The element of water has so many profound ways it touches our lives from the simple, the physical, the everyday, the spiritual, the meaningful and healing ways as well as the ways that bring fear and frustration. This is a contemplation of the role of water in my life from all different sides. I recorded this an in inspiration for you to also look at the ways Water is in relationship to you. This track is slow and contemplative, allowing space for you own reflections to birth and your own memories to bubble up.

In reverence to water,

A transmission and a channeling.

We are of water.

Water is within us.

Droplets,

Rivers,

Oceans,

Streams,

Brooks.

They all run through us.

They run through us in moments of anger and joy and laughter.

We can feel the energy pulsing within us of water.

We can feel what comes through us in water.

I was a child who loved the water.

You could never get me out of the pool,

Out of the rain,

Out of the puddles,

Out of the streams.

I loved to put my hands in running water.

I loved the bath.

I loved the hose,

The sprinkler.

You couldn't get me out of the water.

That's what my mother used to say.

I have slid down rocks full of water in joy.

I'm easily mesmerized by droplets of rain,

A sprinkle,

A downpour,

Snow,

Fog,

Mist.

I might be caught staring into it at any time.

The way my hand moves underwater,

Being weightless and yet here.

Skin absorbing water,

Skin asking for water.

Being thirsty was one of the worst things in my life.

I don't like being thirsty.

I like a cool,

Refreshing,

Beautiful glass of water.

I bathed my children in water.

I watched as they were hard to get out of the pool,

Of the rain,

Of the puddles,

Of the ocean,

Of the lake,

Of the bubbling brook.

I would stare down into the clear water of a forest.

Seeing the river stones and the pebbles below and the movement.

You can see movement in water.

You can see the path it came from and the path it's going on.

Something about that mesmerized me.

We are made of water.

This earth we stand on has so much water,

Fresh water and salt water.

Tears.

I once gave a prompt to a creative writing class.

Right as if the whole world's oceans dried up.

And my piece was how our tears would fill it up again.

Collectively.

If we could come together to feel.

We could rise the sea level.

I am mesmerized by water,

Though I don't often go out onto the ocean.

I have a deep,

Deep respect for the ocean.

I like to see it from the shoreline.

The horizon.

Listening to the roar of waves.

Listening to the sound as it curls around my toes,

Coming in and going out.

Water is part of our food.

Our vegetables,

Our fruits.

It grows things.

I mean,

We grow things too and we're part of water.

This element of water.

Connected with this color blue or turquoise or purple or yellow or whatever color is being reflected on its beautiful mirror surface.

This element of water.

Of emotion.

Of weightless being as a weighted being.

There is no substitute for water.

It puts out fires,

Quenches,

Feeds,

Nourishes.

I am an aquarium.

I am a water bearer,

But I come from air.

I feel that I've lived most of my life with my hands cupped with water in them.

Really so reverent word.

This element,

This substance,

This thing that can change forms.

Can be gas.

Can be solid.

Can be liquid.

Can be hot.

Can be cold.

It can burn you and it can freeze you.

It can change your temperature submerged in it.

And when you get a burn,

Right?

Even if it's from water.

I once had boiling hot water poured on my arm and had third degree burns.

And I always found it amazing that I would get these blisters all along my arm.

And they'd be filled with like a water under this very,

Very thin layer of skin.

They would be filled with this liquid,

This water under this very,

Very thin layer of skin.

And I would have to go and go to the burn unit and get them cut off on this one area of my arm.

And I had to go a lot.

And they would take the skin off at the time.

And they would put all kinds of ointments on.

And I always thought to myself,

This feels wrong.

My body is making this water.

Whatever else was in it,

Right?

I take cold showers.

The cold temperature wakes me up.

I love it.

I have a daughter that likes to have ice in everything.

It makes her so happy to have ice,

Water,

Ice drinks.

And then I have another child who loves tea,

Warm tea.

Sometimes I think water is like a looking glass.

Because when you look at water,

It almost distorts what you're looking at.

Right?

You see it almost like whatever's beneath it moves with the water a little bit.

And even if the water is completely still,

You don't quite see exactly what's under that surface of the water,

Even though you can see it.

It's just altered in the slightest way.

And so I wonder sometimes about the looking glass of water.

And how that's connected to our hearts and our emotions.

The emotions that maybe aren't so clear on the inside.

But they're there and they're valid.

They're ours.

They have things to teach us.

Whenever I have cut flowers in water,

I change the water every day.

I wash my clothes with water.

I trust that the water in my house is clean for my kids.

I dream of water.

One day I was asked to do a psychological,

Like a little quiz.

And you had to imagine a body of water.

And I imagined my body but made of water.

It was really beautiful.

I saw my body made of water sitting on the forest floor.

All these shades of a bright blue circulating in this body of water.

Moving,

Constant,

Flowing.

Like the water took the shape of my body just like it does with any container.

It's amazing water.

Easy to take for granted.

Easy to walk by that brook or that stream.

Or to close your shades when it's raining.

Or whatever way that you take it for granted in your life.

It's easy.

It's so amazing to me.

When I was a child,

I would look out the car window and as rain came down,

I would watch the raindrops race down the window pane in the car or in my house.

Like it had a life of its own,

That drop of water.

And sometimes when I drink water,

I drink it.

And I feel the water go all the way down my system.

I can feel it kind of traveling through my body.

I love that feeling.

We have,

Of course,

The salt water from our eyes.

I cry a lot.

I don't mind crying.

I find it so funny that when I cry,

My eyes let go of salt water.

Maybe that's why I said if our oceans dry up,

If we all got together and felt something,

We could fill them up above sea level.

Because there's so many people that hold in their tears right now.

I cry.

Almost every movie I see,

I cry.

Something moves me.

And it's not always sad.

I cry salt tears for sad things and happy things and moving things,

Confusing things.

I love the sound of water dripping,

Trickling.

I love the sound of when I get into a bath,

That foam.

When I get into a bath.

I love it.

I love to feel water go through my fingers.

This element of water.

In a tarot deck,

It would be the cups.

The cup can hold the water.

The emotional life.

For me,

Water is a mirror.

A way to be in my own waters,

My own spiritual waters.

It's calming.

I love to look at water moving across the surface and unfocus my eyes and allow myself to see the different reflections and shadows and clouds moving across it.

I love all the creatures that come together near water.

At the pond by me,

We have blue herons.

We used to have swans,

But they haven't been here in a few years.

We have geese,

Ducks.

We also have fox,

Squirrels,

Chipmunks,

Frogs,

Bullfrogs.

All kinds of fish in the water.

Worms and earthworms and spiders.

The ecology of a place with water is awesome.

I even saw the other day,

Someone created a little bit of a puddle in the forest and then set up a camera and they looked and saw all the different creatures that came.

Like a meeting place,

Not together,

But they all gathered from that puddle,

Took back.

For me,

Water is a spiritual journey.

It brings me back to my childhood.

It brings back a sense of innocence.

It brings me to the depths of my spiritual being.

I often think of ripples and what ripples mean.

I used to skip stones and you would see the trail of ripples on a water's surface.

It echoes the frequency of the life.

Water is so giving.

It can also be unforgiving and there's a lot of power.

If you've ever been on an ocean,

There's a lot of power in water.

It can overwhelm,

Overtake.

Whenever I think of water,

I'm reminded.

It's almost like releasing the pressure in a faucet.

Every once in a while,

You've got to let a little bit out.

Every once in a while,

You've got to clear it out,

Cleanse it out.

Check on it,

Check on it,

Check on it,

Check on it,

Check on it,

Check on it,

Check on it.

I've had my basement flooded from the water that seeps in.

It's no fun.

But I still appreciate it.

I would encourage you to think about water in your own life.

I'm sure there's so many other beautiful things to think about water.

This is just what's here for me today.

Water.

In reverence to water.
