Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn.
This is a daily reading with the Archetype deck by Kim Kranz.
I have picked a card from this deck,
And whenever you find this track,
It is when you are meant to hear it.
Today,
I picked the Sustainer,
It's card number 24,
And when I first breathed into this card,
When I first took in this card and sat with it,
I was reminded of how hands on pottery help hold the shape,
Especially on a pottery wheel.
As the wheel is spinning,
The hands create the boundaries,
The hands create the pressure to allow the clay to move into shape.
And this card,
Being the Sustainer,
Has a lot to do with that.
Both the pressure that the hands hold on the clay,
And the need for the clay to have that pressure in order to find its beauty in expression.
It's time to recognize what you do for others in your life.
How you hold pressure in order for them to express and shape their beauty,
Their lives.
But anyone who is an artist would know that the more that we hold,
The more pressure we apply with our hands to something,
The more you begin to feel the muscles,
The tendons,
The ligaments,
The tightness,
The aching.
Even writers would know that,
You're writing with your pen,
With your hand,
There's a time when we need to look at our hands,
And we need to appreciate them,
But also stretch them out,
Maybe massage them,
Give them a little bit of appreciation,
And give back to them.
So take that idea and think of the Sustainer as a role that you play.
Where are you holding so that others can shape themselves?
Where are your hands holding the borders,
Holding the edges,
Applying pressure so that everything else within the container of those hands can begin to find their natural shape,
Their natural cadence,
Their natural beauty?
What comes with this card is a beautiful support that you can be for others and yourself.
But often that part that takes care,
That holds,
That applies just the right pressure gets overlooked.
That role gets taken for granted,
Maybe,
Even when we're thinking about ourselves.
So allowing that idea and allowing that image of hands,
Because this really is what the card is holding,
A ball of clay or material that's being molded.
But I really like when I see it,
I really feel into the idea of the pottery wheel,
Because life is spinning,
Right?
Like that pottery wheel,
Things are spinning,
Things are moving at all times,
Right?
And when we put our hands on a pottery wheel with clay,
I don't know if you've ever done this before,
You can start to feel the inside clay push back and you learn how to put pressure in different areas of your hands to create what you want to create.
And the best artists,
The best potters are the ones who allow the clay to,
In a sense,
Shape itself.
So where are you playing the role of the sustainer in your life?
It might be with your family,
Your partner,
It might be with your job,
Friendships,
It might be with yourself.
Maybe you are even holding that role for yourself.
So we do that in so many different ways.
And I encourage you to think about in that role that you play,
That part of yourself,
That archetype within you,
When you play that role of the sustainer,
Are you recognized?
Are you acknowledged?
Do you recognize and acknowledge yourself for that role?
And maybe you just want to notice and appreciate yourself for that role and how important it is.
You know,
The hands that help shape the pottery are not often on display,
Right?
Really,
They love the pottery,
But not the hands necessarily that put all of that beautiful pressure and containment on the clay in order to allow it to be shaped and molded.
And maybe this is your call to stretch your hands out a bit,
To see what you need outside of that role,
To give yourself a little love.
So as this card is called the sustainer,
I ask you,
Where do you sustain life?
Whenever I hear that word sustain,
I go to sustenance and substance.
That how those words interplay,
Sustain,
Substance,
Sustenance.
They're all very,
They're almost like friends in a friend group,
Right?
They interplay beautifully.
So if you're hearing this reading and you're listening to this track,
I invite you to think about where in your life you are sustaining.
And the word sustaining to me is a growth.
It's not just holding the line.
It's actually helping to grow the seeds in a way,
Right?
If you're not sustaining and growing and allowing for that growth,
Then you're just holding the line.
So where are you sustaining?
Where is their growth?
Where is the natural beauty beginning to come and be shaped?
And how can you appreciate?
How can you love?
How can you have gratitude for yourself and the role that you play for those hands,
Right?
So beautifully hold the pressure.
If you feel like writing a little bit of a journal entry on this,
It would be wonderful.
