Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn.
This is the second in a series of short breath breaks.
Each breath break highlights a different breathing technique to balance the nervous system,
Bringing the parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous system into balance in our body.
This breath is going to be an inhale through your nose for the count of four and then opening your mouth and exhaling out for a count of six.
We'll do nine breaths in a cycle and three cycles of this breath.
So wherever you are,
Beginning by inhaling through your nose on the count of four,
Inhaling one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Opening your mouth and exhaling out,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhaling out of your mouth,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhaling through your mouth,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhaling through your mouth,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Opening your mouth and exhaling,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Opening your mouth and exhaling out,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhaling through your mouth,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Exhaling through your mouth,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhaling through your nose,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Opening your mouth and exhaling out,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
And letting that go and allowing your body to just breathe in its natural rhythm for a minute.
So on the next round of nine breaths,
I'm not going to count every time.
I will simply give you the instruction of inhaling and exhaling.
And while you are inhaling and exhaling,
If you might just pay attention to what the breath feels like going into the nose,
Can you feel the temperature?
Can you feel the flow of air?
And as you exhale through your mouth,
Can you feel the air coming back and exhaling out of your body?
You might even focus on where when you inhale your body expands and where when you exhale your body contracts.
So here we go.
We're going to inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth.
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth,
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your mouth.
And releasing that,
Just going back to your normal breath without controlling anything.
Just allowing your body to breathe you,
Allowing your natural inhale and your exhale to take over for a minute.
On this next and last cycle of breathing,
We're going to put a little bit of sound on the exhale.
That's massaging the vagus nerve,
Which also balances our nervous system,
Which also brings us to a more relaxed state.
So when you're opening your mouth and exhaling,
You're going to allow some sound to come out on your side.
It can be loud,
It can be soft,
Whatever feels correct for you.
And I will simply be breathing with you this time.
So,
Inhaling through the nose,
Exhaling through the mouth.
And just allow your breathing to come back to your normal rhythm.
Inhaling and exhaling.
At your own pace,
Letting your breath and your body breathe you.
And hopefully if you enjoyed this,
You can come back anytime and take a breath break.
Thank you so much.
Namaste.
