Hello and welcome.
I'm Jennifer Ellis.
I'm going to lead you through a really short breath work practice that can be done anytime you feel you need some cooling energy.
It's called the Satali Pranayama,
The cooling breath.
How it is done is you breathe in through a curled tongue,
And if you can't curl your tongue,
You'll breathe in through your teeth gritted together.
So curled tongue,
Or teeth gritted together,
Will be your inhale.
And then your exhale will be through your nose.
And we will sit and practice this for a little bit.
This is a wonderful breath work technique if you're feeling warm from the weather,
Feeling warm from anger,
Feeling warm from menopause,
Feeling warm from being a little anxious.
If you have a presentation and you're feeling kind of warm,
Great breath work technique to do the cooling breath.
So let's get to it.
We're going to inhale through our curled tongue or teeth together for a count of five.
And exhale through your nose for a count of five.
Inhale,
Curled tongue or teeth.
Exhale through the nose.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale,
Curled tongue or teeth.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Let's do four more rounds together.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
One more round.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Now just sit for a moment in silence and notice how you feel after those few minutes of the Satali Pranayama cooling breath.
And as you sit and just reflect on how you feel,
Just bring your breath back to its natural rhythm and pace.
Letting the breath just breathe as it may.
Notice if you're starting to feel more relaxed,
More cool in your physical body.
And if not,
You might want to try a few more rounds of that.
And if you do,
You may be like,
Oh,
Great.
I can go about my day feeling a little cooler.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Once again,
I'm Jennifer Ellis,
And this has been the Cooling Breath.
