A guided meditation that will help your body and mind slow down alongside the winter months which can feel long and cold. Inspiration has been taken from nature and hibernation which gives nature a permission to rest. The meditation was inspired by a poem that I wrote about being 'Snowed in' and how sometimes we can find real comfort in stopping and slowing down and recognising how our body feels when we do this. Time to slow down,

A guided meditation,

Let's begin,

Finding yourself a comfortable position either lying down or sitting in a chair and I invite you to close your eyes and just noticing how your body is feeling,

Noticing the stillness,

Maybe your chest is moving up and down,

Acclimatizing to stopping,

Noticing the movement becoming slower,

Steadier,

Scanning down through your body from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet,

Noticing any tension that you may feel within your body,

And giving it permission to go,

Letting that tension flow out through your body,

Noticing your face,

Any tension,

Any holding of muscles behind the eyes or in the cheekbones or in the jaw and letting that tension flow out,

Noticing your neck and your shoulders,

No more holding,

No need for holding now,

Letting those muscles relax and the tension leave your body,

And noticing if the rising and the falling of the chest is becoming slower now,

Noticing your upper arms and your elbows and your forearms,

And gently rest your fingers and your palms on your lap or by your side,

Letting the tension flow out of the tops of your fingers,

Noticing your belly,

Often a place that we hold or carry tension,

And just let the belly become soft now,

Letting that tension flow out through the soles of your feet,

Noticing your hips and your legs,

No need for our legs to hold us up now,

Let that tension flow out through the soles of your feet,

Noticing your knees and your shins,

Your calves and your ankles,

Letting your legs relax,

Noticing your feet,

Letting the feet relax,

And slowly the body comes into stillness now,

As we invite tension to leave our body and instead come into stillness,

And then i invite you to bring one hand to your heart center,

To the center of your chest,

If it's comfortable,

All light fingers touching the center of your heart,

In line with your armpits in the center of your chest,

Connecting with your heart center,

Your spiritual heart,

And if thoughts come to mind,

Like thoughts often do,

Noticing what happens when the body drops into stillness,

And the breath becomes quieter and slows,

Noticing what happens to the mind,

And if thoughts come to mind,

Like thoughts often do,

Just see them as clouds in a summer sky,

Passing by,

No need to engage or attach yourself to these thoughts,

Just let them pass by,

And winter is a time to slow down,

Just as nature chooses to hibernate within the cold darker months,

We too can be inspired to rest and to slow down,

Seeing winter as a time to slow down,

A time to slow down,

Laying my head to rest,

Moving my body to the ground,

The earth holding me in its nest,

Time to slow down,

Hibernating from the cold and dark,

As winter is renowned,

Lit fires flickering their spark,

Time to slow down,

When the storm clouds gather,

Anchoring our breath,

Letting the waves wash over,

Time to slow down,

And begin the undoing,

Unravelling our minds,

Our hearts becoming fulfilling,

Time to slow down,

Discovering our true authenticity,

Breathing in and out peace,

Letting go of toxicity,

And as our bodies come now into deep relaxation,

Spending some time in quiet silent meditation,

Slowly now start bringing awareness into the breath,

Noticing the rising and the falling of the belly,

And I encourage you to bring some deeper breaths in now,

Circulating that fresh oxygen into your body,

Circulating that peace and warmth,

Knowing that you can come back to this moment anytime in your day or night,

Or your busy life,

Reminding yourself to slow down,

Start moving the fingers and the toes,

As you deepen the breath,

And invite you to open up your eyes,

Om Shanti,

Shanti,

Shanti,

Peace,

Peace,

Peace be unto all.
