Welcome everyone,
Thanks so much for joining us.
I'm Jen,
This is Tony and Vincent and yeah we're very excited to have you join us for an hour,
An hour's session of self-care with the beautiful soothing sounds of the handpan and acoustic piano keys.
And I'll offer just a little simple guidance to help you relax,
To come into a place of presence within yourself so that you can really just let go and enjoy the music.
We certainly do invite you to lie down if you brought a mat but otherwise sitting on the chair if you're more comfortable doing that.
Let's begin by just really becoming very conscious and present of where you are,
This space here.
Just in a very casual way,
Just notice the room around you,
Some of the objects,
The artwork on the walls,
And having a sense of the space itself,
Your place within this space.
And you're most welcome to close your eyes,
You can also keep your eyes open if you prefer,
It's really up to you and whatever you feel comfortable with.
So if you'd like to close your eyes,
Feel free to do so.
And just taking this next few moments to really tune into your body,
Your posture,
And inviting any subtle changes into how you're sitting or lying to really allow your body to be comfortable,
Be relaxed.
So feeling into the supports beneath you,
And where your body is making contact with the chair or the mat below.
And just noticing how gravity is gently holding you here,
The weight of your body resting on the the backrest,
The seat,
The floor.
Noticing how it feels,
The sense of pressure and weight,
If you're lying down,
Perhaps at the back of your head,
Down your back,
The sense of pressure along your backside and the back of your legs,
All the way down to your feet.
Noticing the weight of your feet on whatever they rest,
And just allowing your whole body to relax into those supports below you.
You might like to set an intention for this time to help focus your mind and really give yourself permission to take this time for self-care,
For relaxation.
So you might have your own reason or intention for being here today,
You might like to remind yourself of that.
Or you might just like to silently set the intention to take this time for your well-being,
Beginning to,
In a very casual way,
Notice what sounds you can hear,
The sounds around you,
Appearing within the room,
And also noticing those sounds you can hear in the distance,
Traffic,
Birdsong,
Activity.
Noticing how different sounds appear,
They play in your awareness and change,
And eventually they disappear.
And as you continue to listen,
Allow your whole body to be like one big organ that could listen,
Allowing sounds to be received,
Not just by your ears,
But throughout your whole body.
And allowing the music to help your body relax,
Receiving the sounds,
And allowing them to help you release any obvious tension from the top of your head.
Gentle waves of softening flowing down your forehead,
The sides of your head,
The back of your head,
Inviting a sense of release and letting go of anything you no longer need to carry right now.
A sense of sinking down and letting go to flow down through the muscles in your face,
All the way down through your head,
Perhaps using your breath to help this gentle and gradual letting go,
Taking some long,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
And on the exhale,
Allowing a sinking down,
A relaxation to flow through your neck and your shoulders,
Allowing your chest to relax,
Perhaps feeling an opening and expanding through your chest as you breathe in,
Allowing a wave of relaxation to flow down through your back,
Up,
Middle back,
Your lower back,
Your natural breath,
Breathing out and releasing tension through your belly,
Your breath and the gentle sounds helping you release tension through your legs.
All the way down to your feet,
How your body feels from the inside out,
Noticing any sensation along the soles of your feet,
The tips of your toes,
As you notice the sounds,
The music,
Notice any response you feel within your body,
Your whole body receives the sounds,
Allowing the sounds to help you deepen this natural sense of relaxation,
Letting go,
Feeling your whole feet,
Lower legs,
Play of sensation,
Relaxation,
Your knees and upper legs,
Giving your mind this time of rest,
Dropping your attention down into your body,
Music,
Dances and plays in your awareness,
So too the sensations,
The feelings in your hips,
Your torso,
The natural flow of your breath,
Gently opening and expanding your whole torso on the in-breath,
The natural sense of releasing,
Letting go,
Softening on the out-breath,
Noticing how your hands and fingers are feeling right now,
Inviting them into deep rest,
From the inside out,
Settling in,
All of your responsibilities,
To-do lists,
The roles you play,
Instead simply being open and receptive,
Using the music as an anchor to gently bring your attention back to thinking,
As it always does,
This sound,
This breath,
And this moment,
Noticing how your whole body receives the sound without resistance,
Allow yourself to rest deeply,
To receive the sound through,
Allowing yourself to notice any subtle impacts,
The music and sounds are having within you,
In your body,
Your mind,
And really soaking up any pleasant sensations,
Any sense of vibrancy or of aliveness,
The play of sensation,
Responding to the play of sound and music,
Allowing yourself some time to notice how the music and the sounds have been received,
Encouraged a deepening of presence,
Rest,
And take some time to integrate,
To notice any subtle changes or impacts you feel,
Being these moments be just as important as any other moments in your day,
Time to simply be sensing the life,
The vibrancy that's here,
The aliveness,
The energy,
Playing,
Dancing throughout your body,
And sensing that you could soak this up,
Like a sponge soaks in water,
Breathing in this vibrancy into every cell of your body,
This aliveness,
Energizing and resetting your whole body,
Allowing any pleasant feelings to spread and amplify throughout your body,
And just taking a moment or two in silence to enjoy any sense of peace,
Presence,
Aliveness you have created for yourself,
Feeling the natural flow of your breath,
Noticing any subtle changes in how you're feeling now,
Compared to how you felt before,
Your immersion in the music,
And sensing the life within you,
The play of sensation,
And you might even,
If it feels right for you,
Give yourself sincere thanks for taking this precious time,
Connecting back to yourself,
Noticing again how it feels to be sitting or lying on the supports beneath you,
Gravity gently holding you here,
The floor and the earth beneath holding you up,
And noticing again how sounds appear,
Stay for a while and then disappear,
The sounds close to you and the sounds far away in the distance,
And you might like to very gently begin to reawaken your body with some gentle,
Slow,
Mindful movement,
Perhaps some gentle stretches,
Wriggling your fingers and toes and rolling your shoulders,
And then having a sense of where you are,
The room you are in,
The people around you,
Very gently reawakening,
Taking your time,
Gradually opening your eyes whenever you're ready,
And taking some time to readjust and reawaken.
