This Butterfly Meditation is great for children who are anxious or who struggle to concentrate. After this mediation your child should feel relaxed, content and more confident in their own skin. It is suitable for all ages - very young children as well as school children. If your child struggles to concentrate, one of the ways you can practise (and improve) their concentration skills is by discussing the story with them. These are the questions you can ask your little one after the meditation: What insect were you during this meditation? Where were you flying around? What did the garden look like? What flowers did you see? What colours were they? Did you see any ants? How did you feel during the meditation? How do you feel now? I hope your child enjoyed this guided meditation.

Hello my little friends,

Let's take a moment to relax and have some fun with our minds.

Find a cozy spot to sit or lie down comfortably.

Let's begin our adventure into a calm and peaceful world.

Now let's take a deep breath in through our nose,

Feeling our belly rise like a balloon.

Hold it for a moment then breathe out slowly making a gentle ah sound like a breeze through the trees.

Let's do this two more times.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Breathe out.

One more time,

Take a deep breath in,

Breathe out.

Imagine you are a playful little butterfly fluttering gently in a colorful garden.

Each flap of your wings is like a little dance.

Feel the warm sunshine on your wings as you explore the beautiful flowers around you.

Can you see the vibrant colors and smell the sweet scents?

As you flutter around,

Notice the birds singing their happy songs in the trees.

Listen to their melodies and feel the joy they bring to your heart.

Take a moment to land on a big colorful flower.

Sit down and let the sunshine warm you back.

Gently touch the petals.

Can you feel the softness?

What color is the flower and what does it smell like?

Take your time to enjoy this special moment.

Now look around and see all the different flowers in your garden.

Are there any that are your favorite?

Let your imagination go wild.

You can even create a new flower with your mind's magic.

Now let's use our super duper focus.

Find a cozy spot in your garden and sit down.

Pick a flower and observe it closely.

What color is it?

How many petals does it have?

Can you perhaps see a little ant crawling on a petal?

Or maybe a delicate spiderweb glistening in the sunshine?

I will give you a moment to notice every little detail.

Think of something that made you smile today or something you are thankful for.

It could be a hug,

Kind word or your favorite toy.

Hold out thought in your heart for a moment.

Let it fill you with happiness and warmth.

As we come to the end of our adventure,

Slowly bring your attention back to your breath.

Take a deep breath in and as you breathe out let go of any remaining tension and worries.

You are beautiful just the way you are.

Slowly open your eyes,

Wiggle your fingers and toes and gently bring yourself back to the present moment.

How do you feel?

Are you nice and relaxed?

Just remember whenever you need a break you can picture that beautiful peaceful garden in your mind.

Thank you for participating.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

See you soon.
