Hi,

I'm Heather Burkhart,

Founder of Her Wellbeing,

Ayurveda,

And Yoga.

I'll be your guide for this meditation session.

Welcome.

Today I'll lead you through a moon gazing guided meditation.

I use visualization to help you tune into a full body and mind experience.

First and foremost,

Make sure you're comfortable.

Take a few moments to find a comfortable shape and know that you can change your position at any time and in any way.

Take care of yourself and your needs.

Just sit back,

Relax,

And listen.

Or you might like to go for a walk,

Especially if you can see the moon in the sky tonight.

A big waxing moon near the full moon is best,

But not required for a nice evening stroll.

Whatever your choice,

I'll give you a few moments to get yourself ready.

Pause the meditation here if you need to.

Ready?

Now,

I want you to imagine going for a pleasant evening stroll.

Choose your favorite setting and choose your favorite temperature.

Is there a warm breeze or is it a cool,

Crisp night?

Are you walking in the woods or a prairie full of wildflowers?

Perhaps a mountain path or a breezy shore.

Whatever the setting,

See it from your own eyes and take it all in through all of your senses.

You might invite a deep breath in through the nostrils and let it go out of the mouth with a sigh.

It might feel good to do that a couple more times to help you settle in to this meditation.

In through the nose,

Sigh out of the mouth.

What aromas linger in the air around you?

Pine trees?

Fresh ocean air?

Do you feel a gentle breeze on your skin against your clothing?

Take a look down now and see your own feet walking.

Are you barefoot?

Do you feel sand in between your toes?

Or do you see your favorite pair of walking shoes and hear the crunch of freshly fallen leaves?

Paint the picture of your favorite setting now using all of your senses.

Really be there now,

Especially with these next few breaths.

Now look up to the sky.

Seek out the glowing sphere of the moon.

Notice how she shines her light upon everything around you and you.

Your skin glows.

Water glistens.

Leaves flicker in the moonlight.

Take a moment here to notice the luminescence that she shares with you and all around you.

Ayurveda teaches us that taking in the glow of the moon,

Even if it's by way of visualization,

Is especially healing.

This is due to its energy called soma.

Soma is cooling,

Grounding,

Nourishing,

And soothing.

See if you can tap into that now.

If the sun is a productive energy source that facilitates growth,

The moon is an energy source that facilitates healing.

So productive,

Just in a different way.

More internal,

Where the sun's energy sometimes is focused more externally.

The moon is associated with the mind,

The subconscious,

Our dreams,

And emotions.

So tonight we might be looking at our inner landscape.

Take a few moments to just walk and take in the night.

Find a place to sit where you can rest.

Maybe it's a tree stump or a large rock.

Wherever it is,

Imagine a clear view of the moon.

Feel your bones resting on the earth,

Even if it's just for a few minutes.

Ah,

That's better.

Now just take in the moon and breathe.

As you see the moon,

The moon sees you.

Act now,

Especially with these next couple of breaths.

Breathing naturally,

Letting the breath flow as it wants to.

The moon infuses you with the energy of the divine feminine,

Almost cooing over you and the whole earth from her place in the sky.

Imagine the moonlight sending healing soma energy upon everything on the whole of the earth,

All earth inhabitants,

And you as well.

With each breath,

Take it in.

Take a few moments to just receive.

With a full moon,

The moon's energy is at its peak.

As you gaze upon her,

Can you feel this energy?

This is an energy that cleanses and soothes and heals.

Take this opportunity to let the moonlight sweep through your body and mind,

Taking away anything that no longer serves you in any way.

Sweeping away darkness,

Shadows,

Dis-ease,

And breathe into that as much as you'd like.

At this time,

You might also like to share the wish of peace and healing with all living beings on earth.

Imagine this radiating out from the moon and you in all directions.

See yourself as a beacon of light.

That's what you truly are.

A little piece of the moon here on earth.

Imagine all is right in the moonlight that seeks to make light of things even in the darkest of nights.

Shadows dissipate.

Ignorance and negativity dissolve.

Light prevails.

Love prevails.

This is sattva,

Pure,

Clear,

Light energy of the natural world and the cosmos.

It's in you and all around you,

Like a pure stream of spring water.

Imagine it flowing through your own body and mind.

It's like a drink of cool,

Clean water that hydrates you,

Cleanses you,

And lifts your spirit.

Imagine that the moon is like a compassionate elder who has wise words for you tonight.

She says,

Listen to your own heart.

The answers are there.

I'm simply bringing your attention to them.

You probably already know what she has to say to you.

She's pointing you in the direction of your inner knowing and intuition,

Your gut feelings and what is truly in your heart.

Can you listen in for a few moments?

What is it that you hear?

What is the moon whispering to you tonight?

She usually has something to say,

And it might not even come across as words.

Maybe it's a feeling,

An image,

A face.

Be open to the many ways the moon may send messages to you,

Especially on days near the full moon and on the full moon night.

Don't think about it too hard.

Let's welcome whatever is there and trust your intuition that you do know what is best for you.

Trust yourself.

This is what the moon teaches us with every moon holiday,

New and full moons.

Imagine a cool breeze kicks up and this signals to you that maybe it's time to head home.

Before you go,

Offer gratitude to the moon in any way you'd like.

Thank her for seeing you.

Thank her for you being seen truly as you are.

Thank yourself for taking the time to walk this walk with the moon,

A path that many generations have taken before you.

You are part of this lineage.

You may have just forgotten.

This walk is a way of remembering how we can honor the creative and maternal energy here on earth,

Mother nature,

And the celestial mother,

Our moon,

In the heavens for their awesome powers without which we would surely be lost.

This wisdom lives on in you.

It is a heart-centered wisdom.

You only have to tap into it to remember your heart,

Remember your self,

Self with a capital S.

I encourage you to share this wisdom.

Go on moonwalks with others.

Share this tradition that's as old as time.

Make a note to yourself to take a walk every full moon as a commitment to honor yourself and your place in nature and the cosmos,

To plug into a maternal universal source that unites us all and sees us all equally as children of the moon,

Of the earth,

The heavens.

And if a walk is not possible,

Tuning into this meditation once again.

You can return to this place of inquiry and intuition,

Imagination,

Anytime.

Now imagine yourself standing up,

Brushing yourself off and orienting yourself towards home.

Start walking from once you came.

Once again,

See your feet and feel the ground.

Hear the sounds of your surroundings.

Smell the smells,

Feel whatever it is you're feeling.

There's no right or wrong in this experience.

There's only what is.

All of you is always welcome.

You can't do this wrong.

Take in your surroundings.

Take it all in once again.

Invite a deep breath in and out.

Peer over your shoulder to get one more glance at the moon before you head in.

And there she is.

And there she will remain.

Always there to watch over you and send you beams of healing light like a gentle wink from an elder who knows you all too well,

Who loves you.

You are loved.

It is a reminder that all you need to do is plug in.

When you need a little boost,

A little reminder that you are loved and you are not alone.

You are loved and you are not alone.

Until next time,

Goodnight moon.

I hope you found this guided meditation helpful.

Feel free to sit quietly for a few minutes longer to notice the effects of this visualization.

How do you feel?

What do you feel?

Remember there's no right or wrong.

Did the moon have a message for you?

What is in your heart that the moon wanted you to hear?

Take a moment,

Jot some of these ideas down.

And as always,

Please feel free to leave a review.

Let me know how you found this meditation.

Let me know your main takeaways.

What was your message?

I think it's helpful for everyone to hear messages because we can all relate to those.

This is Heather Burkhart of Her Wellbeing Ayurveda and Yoga saying goodbye and goodnight.

Namaste.
