Today,
We're going to do one about emotional freedom technique when we have anxiety.
If you're not familiar with emotional freedom technique,
Or more commonly as it's known as tapping,
I have an episode about an introduction for emotional freedom technique and it'll cover all the things you need to know.
And as a reminder or refresher,
Feel free to Google emotional freedom technique tapping points and it'll show you a diagram of all the various points on our body where we'll be tapping today.
So first,
I just want you to close your eyes down and just take a deep breath in.
Just allow whatever is there to be there.
And one out of ten,
I want you to gauge how much anxiety you're feeling right now in your body,
Erasing thoughts,
Whatever it might be,
I want you to gauge it.
Ten being the most anxiety you've ever felt in your entire life.
Zero one is you feel like a baby Buddha under a tree.
Where do you fall on that scale?
From baby Buddha to super stressed out and freaking out about life in general.
I want you to write that number down.
The reason I want you to write it down is because emotional freedom technique can be rather profound,
Rather fast acting,
So we struggle to remember this number often when our thought patterns change.
So just write it down,
Put it in your phone perhaps,
In your notes section,
Just whatever it is.
Write that number down and welcome that number.
If it's a seven,
Welcome a seven,
Maybe it's a ten,
Welcome a ten.
Okay,
I'm taking control now,
But I recognize it's this number,
Whatever that is.
Okay,
So we're going to start by tapping on the side of our hand called the Karate Chop Point.
Feel free to shut your eyes down.
Even though I feel all of this anxiety in my body,
I deeply and completely love,
Honor,
And accept myself.
Even though this anxiety feels overwhelming,
Feels like it's out of my control,
I can't function,
I choose to be kind to myself and I deeply and completely love,
Honor,
And accept myself.
Even though my mind is racing,
I feel all of this anxiety in my body,
I deeply and completely love,
Honor,
And accept myself.
Now we're going to come up to our eyebrow point.
We'll say,
This anxious feeling in my body,
We'll come to the side of the eye.
I feel it everywhere in my body,
This anxiousness,
And we'll come underneath the eye.
My mind is racing with worry,
And under the nose,
So I feel tense.
I feel this anxiety all over.
We'll come to our chin point.
My breath feels shallow and tight.
We'll come to our collarbone.
My whole body just feels tight,
Uneasy,
On edge.
We'll come underneath the arm.
It's very hard to relax,
It's really hard to feel this.
We'll come to the top of the head.
We'll say,
I acknowledge this anxiety.
We'll come to the eyebrow point.
This anxiety is still here,
Side of the eye,
But I don't need to hold onto it at all.
Come underneath the eye.
I'm fully giving myself permission to feel all of this anxiety right now.
We'll come underneath the nose.
It is,
In fact,
Safe to let go,
Even if it's just a small amount.
We'll come to the chin.
My body is ready to relax,
And I'm going to allow it to relax.
Come to the collarbone.
I don't have to carry all this tension.
Under the arm.
I release this fear,
This worry that comes with the anxiety.
Top of the head.
I choose to let go of this anxiety now.
Come to the eyebrow point.
Say,
I am safe in this moment.
In this very moment,
I am safe.
Side of the eye.
My breath is slowing down.
I'm allowing this calmness to come.
Under the eye.
I do feel a little more at ease from this anxiety.
Under the nose.
I'm going to choose calm over fear.
I'm going to allow this calmness to come.
Now we'll come to the chin point.
I'm learning to trust this calm.
I'm learning to trust this state.
We'll come to the collarbone.
My body is safe right now.
From all the stresses in the world,
I'm safe right now.
We'll come under the arm.
I'm starting to feel a little more peaceful now,
And I can trust this feeling.
Come to the top of the head.
I welcome all of this calm and this safety in my body.
We'll come back to the eyebrow point.
I feel a little bit lighter now.
Side of the eye.
I can feel my body softening.
Come under the eye.
I am in fact safe,
I am supported,
And I am loved.
Come under the nose.
I fully trust in my body to handle this.
Come to the chin point.
I am resilient,
I am accepted,
And I am loved.
Come to the collarbone.
I have a choice in life.
I have a choice right now.
Where I can choose peace over fear.
Come underneath the arm.
I'm more relaxed now.
Come to the top of the head.
I can feel calmness starting to fill up my body.
With each tapping point,
I want you to take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
This will be our last round.
Go to the eyebrow point.
I'm starting to feel grateful for this moment.
Come to the side of the eye.
I do in fact trust my body and my mind.
Come underneath the eye.
I'm feeling calm,
I'm feeling centered.
Underneath the nose.
I feel grounded in my power and in my body.
Come to the chin point.
I welcome joy into my life.
Come down to the collarbone.
I am safe,
I am strong,
And I am powerful.
Come underneath the arm.
I'm free from old fears.
I'm free from the anxiety that's been following me around.
Come to the top of the head.
I get to carry this peace with me wherever I go.
And the reason I deserve this is because we all deserve this.
This is our innate state.
This is the state where we get to experience all of our healing.
All of our relaxation.
And if we don't get to rest,
How can we possibly heal?
I want you to take a deep breath in.
Hold just for a second.
Let it out.
And I want you to squeeze the point between your smallest finger and your ring finger.
I want you to squeeze or rub the back of your palm with your index finger.
With your thumb on the palm of that hand.
And on a nice deep inhale,
Squeeze that point or rub.
Hold just for a second or two as you stretch your eyes out up.
Pretend to look at the sky as if the sun is there.
And then just let it all go.
Just let it all go.
And just notice right now.
Notice any shifts that have happened.
Notice any signs that your nervous system has changed states.
These signs will be thirst.
These signs will be you'll have access to thoughts you didn't have before.
Your thoughts are typically more peaceful.
Thoughts of joy,
Relaxation.
You might be hungry now,
Whereas before you weren't.
I want you to imagine what it would be like to make decisions in your life from this place right here.
This point that you feel.
What would it be like to talk with your loved one about a difficult conversation from this deep place of groundedness?
What would it be like to talk with your boss?
Or to make some sort of really important financial decision?
There's nothing chasing you.
There's no bear in the cave anymore.
And over time you can grow this practice.
You can access this state.
And the more you access it,
Just like a trail in the woods,
It will become very worn.
And it will become easier to find and more quickly to find.
And your body will become more familiar with it.
So imagine if you worked in tapping to every day of your life.
Even five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Fifteen minutes.
In the morning or at night.
But most especially when you're first experiencing it.
When you're experiencing the anxiety or the overwhelm.
It can literally be almost anything.
Emotional freedom technique has nearly no bounds.
It can even work with trauma,
PTSD,
Things of that nature.
As well as more superficial things.
So I want you to re-engage with that number that we started out with.
I want you to take a deep breath in.
Just notice your body again.
I want you to give yourself a number of what that anxiety is now.
And as with anything that we ever do.
We have to completely allow any answer.
Without restriction.
Without hesitation.
So perhaps the numbers stayed the same.
Perhaps a little bit different.
Perhaps a lot of the things have gone down.
Or perhaps it's even gone up.
And all of these numbers,
They have to be welcome.
Because if it can't go up,
How could it ever possibly go down?
So if the number's gone up,
I want you to repeat the exercise.
Sometimes it might take 15,
20,
Even 30 rounds of tapping.
But if that's the path for this moment,
Then that is the path.
So thank you for joining me today.
And happy tapping everyone!
