This practice is about bringing mindful awareness to our inner weather,
Taking some time to tune in to our internal barometer.
This could look like pausing for a moment,
You might close your eyes to allow your attention to turn inwards if that feels supportive.
It can be helpful to place a hand on the heart and on the belly,
Or using any other comfortable and accessible way of holding yourself or feeling a sense of being held so as to give your signal to your body and mind that you're checking in with your inner landscape.
And all of this coming from a place of compassion,
Non-judgment and curiosity.
As you turn inwards,
Allowing yourself to be curious about what you notice.
Is there a quality to your inner weather right now?
Is there a feeling or an emotion?
Does it feel like you're full of thoughts,
Perhaps there's a feeling of disarray?
Or is there a sense of clarity and a feeling of calm?
You might notice the sensations of the weather in your body,
Is there a lot of tension and building pressure as if a storm is coming?
Or there might be a feeling of change and unsteadiness,
A feeling of strong winds making you feel shaky and unsure.
It could be that there's a sense of expansion and bubbling excitement and fizzing,
Tingling.
There is no right or wrong way to do this,
We're not judging our internal weather,
Just being curious about it.
Taking the time to check in with our internal barometer might give us a sign for what we might benefit from right now.
It could be that we need some soothing softness or some steadiness and grounding.
We might want to take a moment to really enjoy the weather,
Or it might be important for us to offer ourselves compassion and tenderness to ride out the storms.
And remembering that whatever the internal weather,
Change is constant.
Life is a constant Life is a constant stream of changing weather and changing conditions moment to moment.
Just allowing ourselves to be in the present moment right now and also knowing that this moment will pass as will the next and the next.
