Sometimes we can unknowingly get caught up in an emotional storm.

It might be something that directly affects us or it can even be felt when we are spending time with someone else who may be going through a difficult time.

Learning how to recognize this storm when we're in it is the practice of mindfulness.

And sometimes it takes a while to notice what might be going on before we are aware of it.

The more we could practice the art of mindfulness,

The better we will become on noticing it and stepping back inside to connect with the here and now.

Wherever that was for you,

I'm glad you're here with me now.

Before we begin our practice,

Let's take three deep breaths.

Breathing in through the nose and then creating a full audible sound.

Exhaling through the mouth.

Beginning with a nice deep inhale through the nose and open mouth exhale.

Again,

Full inhale.

Last one,

Inhaling.

Allow yourself to settle into your seat with both feet on the ground.

Bring attention to your spine,

Sitting up tall and straight.

Drop and release any tension in your shoulders and just relax your hands gently on your legs,

Allowing your fingers to spread far and apart.

Just take notice right here and now.

Maybe notice the sound of your breath,

The quiet and stillness in your body.

Just notice any sensations you have in your body right now and observe them gently,

Scanning from the top of your head and working your way down to your feet.

Continue to move through your body,

Just observing and noticing until you scan all the way down to your feet.

Now just notice and feel.

You are in the present moment right now.

Now bring your awareness to your breath.

What do you notice?

Do you notice the rise and fall of your chest or maybe the sounds as you inhale and exhale?

Can you begin to lengthen and soften the breath right now?

Notice the body sensations as you begin to lengthen your breaths.

Maybe noticing a sense of calmness or heaviness of the body in your seat.

What sensations do you feel right now?

Continue to stay connected with your breath,

Maybe moving the attention to the rise and fall of your chest.

Do you notice how the chest and the belly expands as you inhale and softens as you exhale?

Take notice and see just how amazing your body is as it breathes effortlessly.

You are able to just watch and notice.

Stay connected with the breath and watch the body breathe itself.

Feel the body breathing itself.

Take a few more deep breaths,

Allowing everything to just settle within,

Slowly bringing awareness into your body.

Begin to come back into the space where you are seated and gently open your eyes.

I invite you to carry any positive sensations from this practice into the rest of your day.

Thank you for joining me and have a blessed day.
