One of the benefits of compassion is that it helps us feel connected with others and cope with feelings such as anger or frustration in a healthy way. It also helps us become resilient. The following exercise can help you develop compassion for all human beings, including difficult people in your life, people who have hurt you. It is based on a meditation created by Mirabay Bush and Ram Dass, and it's called "Someone Just Like Me."

I'm Guadalupe Cesar Nunez,

The following exercise can help you develop compassion for all human beings,

Including difficult people in your life,

People who have hurt you.

It is based on a meditation created by Mirabai Bush and Ram Dass,

And it's called Someone Just Like Me.

To begin,

Please sit in a comfortable position or lay down.

Bring to mind a difficult person in your life,

Someone who has been hurtful,

And repeat the following phrases.

This person has a body and a mind,

Just like me.

This person has thoughts and feelings,

Just like me.

This person has been sad,

Just like me.

This person has been hurt by others,

Just like me.

This person has been let down,

Just like me.

This person has felt inferior,

Just like me.

This person has been criticized by others,

Just like me.

This person has felt angry,

Just like me.

This person has felt resentful,

Just like me.

This person has felt lonely,

Just like me.

This person has been worried,

Just like me.

This person has been rejected,

Just like me.

This person has felt inadequate,

Just like me.

This person has felt not good enough,

Just like me.

This person wants to have friends,

Just like me.

This person wants to be loved by others,

Just like me.

This person wants to have a good life,

Just like me.

Now it's time to send good wishes to this person.

May you have the resources,

Strengths,

And support networks to overcome the difficulties in life.

May you feel happy.

May you feel accepted.

May you feel calm.

May you be treated with respect.

May you feel appreciated.

May you accomplish all your goals in life.

May you have a healthy body.

May you have a peaceful mind.

May you be loved.

I wish you a happy and peaceful life,

Because you are a person,

A fellow human being,
