This guided sleep meditation, with nature sounds, has been created to help you gently let go of anxiety and stress, so you can drift into deep, restorative sleep with ease. You’ll begin by settling comfortably into bed and focusing on your breath, allowing each inhale to soothe the body and each exhale to release the weight of tension and worry. With gentle guidance, you’ll be invited to relax every part of your body, from head to toe, letting the day melt away as you surrender to calmness. As the meditation unfolds, you’ll use peaceful visualizations to quiet the mind — imagining sunlight warming your body, watching the evening sky transform into starlight, and floating gently towards rest as stress and anxious thoughts dissolve. Each image is designed to calm the nervous system, slow down racing thoughts, and bring you into a state of stillness where sleep can naturally arise. Let go of what no longer serves you.

Transcript

Thank you for joining me.

Just take some time to make yourself comfortable.

And when you're ready,

I'd like you to gently close your eyes.

And listening to the sound of my voice,

I'd like you to imagine you're outside in nature.

Anywhere you can safely relax.

It could be a lovely lush garden on a summer's afternoon or a white tropical beach.

Or you could imagine laying back on a boat that is sailing down a calm,

Peaceful river.

And it really doesn't matter where you are.

As long as it feels good for you.

And it's a beautiful day with the sky a special shade of light blue.

Very clear.

And it's a warm day.

And in the sky,

The dazzling sun is so bright that you just want to close your eyes and feel the warmth of the sun on your body.

And imagine this now in your mind.

And you find that you can direct that sun over and around your body.

And as you notice this,

You begin to direct the light from the sun down over your face.

Feeling the warmth of the light from the sun.

And just relaxing those muscles around the eyes,

Around the nose.

And as you do this,

You find that the muscles of your face are starting to relax.

Just relax.

Just flatten out.

And you feel the warmth of the light from the sun in your throat area.

Relaxing all those muscles.

Just letting go.

And the sunlight moves into your shoulders and across your shoulders,

Making them feel limp,

Loose,

And relaxed.

You feel so relaxed,

So comfortable.

And you continue to direct the light from the sun down your right arm,

From your shoulders right down to the tips of your feet.

And your fingers.

And just notice how your right arm relaxes and lets go.

And guide the sun and the sunlight down over to the left,

Left from the top of the shoulders,

All the way down to the tips of the fingers.

And you feel,

You feel so relaxed,

Becoming even more comfortable and even more relaxed.

And now just direct the light into your chest area.

And feel the muscles of your chest relaxing,

Releasing,

And letting go.

And now the stomach.

Stomach.

Relax the stomach muscles and allow the light to now move down into your hips,

Down into the tops of your thighs and over into the right leg.

And relax the right leg.

Let it feel so comfortable.

Let it relax.

Wait to move up and down from the top of the hips to the tips of the toes.

Noticing how and now move the light into the left leg.

Move it up and down the left leg from the top of the hips to the tips of the toes.

And notice how the left leg releasing tension just letting go.

And your whole body is now totally and completely from the top of the head to the tips of your toes.

And as your body relaxes,

So your mind relaxes.

And as your mind relaxes,

I want you to notice that the sun is starting to move down over the horizon.

And the sun is ablaze with a mix of colors.

It's a beautiful evening.

And your mind relaxes and lets go.

Releasing all the stresses of the day.

Letting go.

And as you become more and more relaxed,

It doesn't matter if at times you find your mind drifting,

Drifting away to some pleasant thought.

Because your inner mind continues to listen and enjoy the growing sense of peace and tranquility that grows deep within you.

And in a moment,

I'm going to count back from 10 to zero.

And as I do,

You will find that you relax more and more with each number drifting deeper and deeper down into total relaxation.

Feel yourself going down lazily drifting and landing.

Relaxing more and seven.

Sinking deeper,

Even deeper into your bed.

Six.

Halfway now to total relaxation.

Four.

Sinking down even further.

Three.

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

Five.

And I want you to visualize that you're looking up into the beautiful night sky now.

And it's totally dark,

Totally clear,

Except for that single silver star.

That silver star shining down out of a velvety black night sky.

And that star is millions and millions of miles away.

And you focus your gaze on that one star.

And as you focus your gaze on that shining silver star,

You notice it begins to twinkle and you feel even more at peace,

Even more calm.

And imagine yourself rising out of your body,

Feeling drawn towards your star.

As you begin moving towards your star through time and space,

Through time and space in the night sky,

Passing comets and planets into a different galaxy,

Closer and closer,

Closer towards your star.

And the nearer you get to your star,

The larger and brighter it becomes.

And the larger and brighter it is,

The more comfortable and relaxed,

More relaxed you are until your star is right in front of you.

One single silver star and you are on your star in the night sky.

You are in your star and this star is in you.

You are the star shining down onto the earth millions and millions of miles away.

And as you drift even deeper into gentle sleep,

Notice that there is a beautiful a beautiful stairway in your star with hundreds of circular steps leading down,

Leading down to a wonderful place.

And you begin to step down those steps almost floating down,

Your feet barely touching the stairs.

And you can see that written on each step is the word sleep.

And as you float down each step you become even more sleepier,

Even more sleepier,

Very relaxed and sleepier.

Such a wonderful feeling as you continue to drift down those stairs getting sleepier and sleepier.

And as you drift down those stairs you are feeling sleepier and sleepier.

Drifting down that staircase,

That staircase of sleep,

Becoming sleepier and sleepier.

Drifting down deeper and deeper,

Relaxing,

Sleepier Drifting down the staircase of sleep,

Sleep.

This meditation is a really lovely comfort on nights when anxiety feels overwhelming. The guidance is warm and grounding, and the gentle imagery helped me release the worries I tend to hold onto at bedtime. I noticed my breathing slow down within the first few minutes, and the tension in my chest and stomach started to ease. I can’t remember the end (because I fell asleep!) but I woke up this morning without that heavy cloud of stress.
