Five Simple Steps to Mitigate Caregiver Syndrome.
In this short talk,
I want to offer you five gentle steps,
Simple,
Not necessarily easy.
Not as a checklist,
But rather as invitations for how you might continue to support yourself in small,
Meaningful ways.
Number one,
Name what you are carrying.
Cultivate awareness,
Speak it out loud,
Write it down,
Share it with somebody safe.
Naming your reality is an act of reclaiming your truth.
Two,
Claim small moments of rest.
You don't need hours,
You need moments.
A quiet cup of tea,
A breath by an open window,
A walk among the trees,
A snuggle with a fur baby.
Let that be enough for now.
Three,
Let someone help you.
Ask for a favour.
Say yes when someone offers.
You are worthy of receiving as much as you are of giving.
Four,
Create a tiny ritual of care.
Light a candle in the morning.
Whisper a blessing to yourself at night.
Let your day begin and end with something simple that nourishes you.
Five,
Remember who you are beyond caregiving.
I am not a machine.
I remember and honour me.
You are more than your role.
You are a whole,
Radiant being.
What brings you joy?
What brings you peace?
Come home to that,
Even if just for a moment.
And so,
My closing words.
You,
My friend,
Are not alone.
You are not invisible.
And you are not failing.
You are a precious human being,
Who is carrying more than most will ever see.
And you deserve care,
Just as much as the beloved you care for.
May the earth hold you.
May the light guide you.
And may you remember,
You are worthy of rest,
Ease,
Peace and joy.
