9 Days Of Breakthrough And Answered Prayers Day 2
by Nikki Walton
A Novena is a Christian tradition of praying for nine consecutive days or weeks in order to fulfill a specific intention or petition. The word “novena” comes from the Latin word novem, which means “nine”. The Surrender Novena was given to the servant of God, Father Dolindo Ruotolo in the early 1900s, for you to pray NOW. People have received countless graces, blessings, and timely miracles, both spiritual and material. Welcome to our 9-Day Prayer Challenge. This is Day 2.
Transcript
Good morning.
God morning to you.
Can you hear that?
There's an airplane overhead,
Over here.
Can you hear it?
I'm gonna edit it out,
But can you hear it?
Listen like you're trying to hear it.
That's prayer.
When I'm kneeling down in front of that tabernacle,
In front of that crucifix,
That's my posture.
Speak,
Father,
Your servant heareth.
And I'm not expecting to hear a voice.
That crucifix looks like a piece of wood,
But I look at it long enough until I can feel what's actually there.
It's a doorway into this.
That listening is a doorway.
You become present with yourself,
Which means you are present with God.
God is ever with you.
The truth is that God is you,
But for now we appear to be two,
Which means you appear to be a servant.
And you can either serve the world or you can serve him.
I choose him.
He's saying,
I chose you.
And you're not lost,
No matter how far away you feel from your goal,
From me.
Close that body's eyes.
I'm right here.
Go on and tell me what you think you need.
Tell me what you think I forgot.
Tell me what you think I'm withholding from you.
I don't withhold.
I'm giving constantly.
I can feel you feeling it right now.
All I'm asking is that you feel this later,
That you keep waking up to this.
This is living.
What you're doing when you're not feeling this is not life.
It's not productive.
It won't be fruitful.
I am not in it.
Bring it to me.
Your work,
Your relationships,
Your words.
Bring me your mind.
Let me think for us.
But you have to have courage to stop and listen.
You don't listen.
You don't pray and you want to do everything but pray.
You want to even do the work you usually don't want to do.
You want to read more.
You want to listen to more talks,
Watch more videos,
But you don't want to pray.
You don't want to hear.
What is it that stops you from doing what you know you need to do?
The more you pray,
The more you can pray.
You learn to pray by praying.
You learn to heal.
And yes,
That's in your wheelhouse.
By healing yourself,
Which means by knowing only love is here.
Only God is here.
There's nothing to be healed.
There's nothing to be fixed.
No one to fix it.
And you just feel me.
You feel me being you.
That feels good.
That's how you know.
It makes you smile.
It makes you helpful.
It makes you want to serve.
Everything I do,
I do it for Him.
Whether I'm doing things for my children or for my parents or for the people at church,
The people in my spiritual community,
My DMs,
My emails.
If I don't get back to you right away,
Know that I am getting back to you.
But it's really me getting back to God.
I'm writing to God.
I'm cooking for God.
I'm dropping the kids off at school for God,
Picking them up for God,
Washing God's clothes,
God's dishes.
That's how Brother Lawrence lived.
If you want something to revisit,
If you want something else to read,
To add to your list,
And I've shared it a million times,
But I too go back and actually listen.
I play the audible of his letters,
Brother Lawrence's letters,
Practicing the presence of God.
Everything he did,
Even though he was working in the monastery,
In the kitchen,
Doing work he didn't quite enjoy or feel he was worthy of doing,
But he did it all for the love of God.
Yes,
It appeared that he was washing the dishes for his brothers,
That he was cleaning the floor for his superiors,
But he was doing all of it for God.
That takes away most of the resentment we experience.
The attitude goes.
That hurriedness goes.
Thich Nhat Hanh says,
When we walk like we are rushing,
We print anxiety and sorrow on the earth.
We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on this earth.
Be aware of the contact between your feet and the earth,
And walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.
Slow down today.
That's the assignment today.
It's simple.
Every time you catch yourself going top speed to nowhere,
Stop.
And nowhere will look like somewhere.
It will look like your office or back to the room,
Back home,
Whatever it is.
Stop in the midst of that stride and slow down.
When I was asked to be a server at that church,
I watched.
I shadowed other servers and some servers rush about and you can tell that they are focused on getting the job done well,
But it's a worldly focus.
The servers that inspire me,
They move slow.
Even when I can see the priest looking for them to move faster,
They move in spirit.
Every action is intentional.
Even when I watch them do the sign of the cross,
It's slow.
I do it slow like that too now.
In the name of the father,
Touching my forehead.
In the name of the son,
Touching the center of my chest where that spiritual sign is,
Where he lives.
And of the holy left shoulder,
Spirit,
Right shoulder.
And everybody's done.
The church has already said amen and I'm still on left shoulder.
But if I don't slow down,
Like I said,
It's like walking with a lit candle.
If I don't slow down,
The candle will blow out and I don't have any matches left.
And so even when I'm late,
I'm slow.
Even when I'm late,
I slow down a little.
I hurry slowly.
I think that's Thich Nhat Hanh too.
Maybe Eckhart.
That's what I want you to do today.
And that goes for your thoughts too.
Stop in the midst of that frantic thinking that you think is normal and listen for the next thought.
Wait for the next thought.
I did learn that from Eckhart Tolle 13-14 years ago it seems now.
When you're waiting on the next thought,
Listening for the next thought,
Like you were listening to see if you could hear an airplane outside my window here,
Nothing comes.
And if it does,
It's faint.
It's transparent.
You can see through it.
You can choose to pick it up.
You can choose to believe in it or not.
It doesn't come stamped as truth.
Fear me.
Worry about me.
I am real.
You hear more silence and you can hear that silence whispering,
I am real.
Lean into me.
Give those thoughts to me.
Give that worry to me.
I'll take care of it.
I'll take care of you.
Do you trust me?
I'm not loud and flashy.
I'm quiet.
I'm still.
I'm a soft place to land.
Sit back into me and now notice that you're not the one sitting.
You're aware of sitting but you're me.
You're the silence.
You're the awareness.
You're the space.
A spirit.
Say,
I am spirit.
Five minutes from now,
Ten minutes from now,
Seemingly,
When thoughts rush back in about all the things you have to do.
Remember that you are spirit while you do the things.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says if you can win over your mind,
You can win over the world.
Let us pray.
These are Jesus's words to your soul.
Surrender to me does not mean to fret,
To be upset or to lose hope,
Nor does it mean offering to me a worried prayer,
Asking me to follow you and change your worry into prayer.
It's against this surrender,
Deeply against it,
To worry,
To be nervous and to desire to think about the consequences of anything.
It's like the confusion that children feel when they ask their mother to see to their needs and then try to take care of those needs for themselves so that their childlike efforts get in their mother's way.
Surrender means to placidly close the eyes of the soul,
To turn away from thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in my care so that only I act,
Saying you take care of it.
And now we pray ten times.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything and talk to him like he's the silence you can hear,
Like he's the silence that's hearing and answering you.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
It's like you're saying,
Oh silence,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
On this next one,
Act as if you're giving him a rose,
A beautiful fragrant flower,
As you say the words,
Laying it at his feet.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Now look up as if you're seeing him on the cross,
As if you're there 2,
Like he's here,
Like that's now.
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
Aren't your problems small now?
Oh Jesus,
I surrender myself to you.
Take care of everything.
And now our concluding prayer.
Mother,
I am yours now and forever,
Through you and with you.
I always want to belong completely to Jesus.
Amen.
Amodama says true healing is what happens when consciousness recognizes its own wholeness amid what appears to be broken or wounded.
I know you think you are broken,
Like you need healing financially,
Physically,
Spiritually.
Stop.
Don't be tempted by that thought,
By that appearance,
And feel only wholeness,
Feel only love right where that wound appears to be,
Right where that broken heart appears to be,
Right where that anxiety appears to be.
Remember a lot can happen in a month,
Especially when you release the need to control outcomes.
Affirm I am thankful for all that has come.
I am grateful for all that has left.
Whatever had to go was not mine.
I find beauty and value in change.
My home is within me wherever I am.
My struggles refine,
Not define me.
Life conspires in my favor.
I trust in the timing of my life.
Uncertainty is a friend,
Not a threat.
I choose peace over worry in this moment.
I choose peace over worry in this moment.
Let's we the urban tell God I choose you over my prayer in this moment.
Can you say that truthfully?
I choose you over my desire for a new relationship,
Over my desire for a new job,
Over my desire for a new house.
What you really want is his love,
His abundance,
His house.
But first he gives you his peace and you have to receive it fully.
And you haven't done that yet,
But you're doing it now.
Opening your heart a little bit more each day,
Letting in more of him in each moment.
That's all you're doing if you have to be around someone today that works your nerves.
See if in that moment you can soften just a little bit.
And this is not mystical,
That means relax your shoulders just a little bit more.
Unclench your jaw just a little bit more.
Notice,
Wake up in that moment and notice how much armor you're wearing,
How many thoughts you're having.
Stop.
You see how easy it is to stop and listen for the feeling.
Stop and listen for the feeling.
When I stop and listen,
I feel God.
I feel you and it's getting clearer there.
Slow down today.
Make notes,
Put it on your hand and that webbing between your thumb and your forefinger.
Write it on your wrist.
Make it your screensaver on your phone.
Slow down and feel him taking care of everything.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
And we'll chat soon.
