We are all being moved by something we desire and something we fear. This powerful guided meditation helps you uncover both. Explore three things you’re running toward — your hopes, goals, and visions — and three things you’re running from — the fears and patterns that hold you back. Through breath, reflection, and imagination, you’ll find clarity between what pulls you forward and what pushes you from behind, aligning you with your purpose and vision for the future.

Welcome to this meditation,

I invite you now to take a deep breath in through your nose and a long steady breath out through your mouth,

Again inhale deeply letting the air fill your lungs and then exhale slowly allowing your shoulders to soften,

Feel the ground beneath you,

The gentle rise and fall of your breath,

Each inhale lifting you a little higher,

Each exhale grounding you a little deeper,

Let your mind begin to settle,

There's nowhere else you need to be,

Nothing you need to do,

This is your time to pause,

Reflect and reconnect.

There are two quiet forces always working within us,

One that calls us forward and one that chases us from behind,

Between them we move,

We grow and we can change,

Today we'll meet both,

The light,

The dreams and visions that inspire you and the shadow,

The fears and habits that keep you running,

As you breathe allow these forces to feel real within you,

One pulling you toward your highest potential and one urging you to move away from what no longer belongs.

Let's just take a few moments to balance our breath to help fully settle,

Invite you to start to inhale from the tip of your nose up your nostrils to the third eye,

The gap between your eyebrows,

Exhaling gently from the third eye down to the tip of your nose and then repeat that,

Feeling the breath balance in its length and its depth,

Balancing on the inhale and the exhale.

As you find your rhythm,

Imagine that you're drawing in light with the inhale and as you exhale you release a mist of tension,

Doubt,

Resistance and fear.

Inhaling the light of what's possible,

Exhaling the fog of what's past.

Continue with these breaths,

Calm,

Steady and balanced for a little while.

Now let's turn your gaze to the horizon of possibility,

Five years from now.

In your mind's eye,

Imagine a version of you has become everything you could be,

Not perfect but alive,

Fulfilled and whole.

Where do you wake up?

What does the air smell like?

Who is beside you?

What fills your days with meaning?

Let yourself explore freely,

There's no need to censor or analyse,

You're simply letting your future self whisper back to you.

Now allow three lights to appear in this vision,

Each one represents something you're running toward,

Something that calls to your heart.

The first light,

What is it?

Maybe it's freedom,

Health,

Creativity,

Love or peace.

Whatever it is,

See it clearly,

Breathe gently into it,

As if clearing the mist helping you focus and see it clearly.

Feel it pulling you,

Drawing you,

Enticing you.

Now focus on the second light,

What does it represent?

Perhaps stability,

Purpose,

Adventure or connection.

Whatever it is,

See it shining in your path ahead and if you're still a little bit hazy,

Gently breathe into it to help focus.

Don't force it,

Just gently breathe clarity into it.

Now draw your awareness to the third light,

The deepest of them all,

The one that feels like your true north,

The life you were meant to live.

Once again breathe clarity into it,

Using your gentle breath to guide you,

Brightening the light,

Clearing the way for the vision to take form,

To come into focus,

To guide you home.

Now hold these three lights in your awareness,

Growing in the distance,

Guiding you forward,

Using your breath as the wind underneath your wings to pursue them.

Let the lights fill your chest with warmth,

Acquired strength and focus.

Now in your mind's eye,

Turn your face gently in the opposite direction,

To the shadows behind you.

Now imagine a version of life five years from now,

Where you stopped showing up for yourself,

Where distraction,

Doubt and fear took the lead.

What does that place look like?

How does it feel in your body?

Who or what have you drifted away from?

These shadows are not a place of fear,

Just one of understanding.

Awareness gives you freedom to choose.

Now see three shadows forming,

Not as threats,

Just as reminders.

Each one represents something you're running away from.

The first,

What is it?

Perhaps procrastination,

Stagnation or regret.

Whatever it is,

Call it forward,

See it clearly and name it with compassion.

Now draw your awareness to the second shadow.

Maybe it represents fear of failure,

Loneliness or being unseen.

You can look at it without judgment,

Just simply recognition.

Shine your light of awareness on it to illuminate it without fear.

And finally the third and last shadow,

The deepest shadow of them all,

The one that truly fuels your desire to change.

Hold space for it,

Don't turn away or shy away from it.

Look deep into the centre of it,

Replacing fear with clarity and understanding,

Helping you move forward and grow.

You see these three shadows clearly now,

They can't harm you.

You realise they're actually your teachers,

They remind you where you no longer wish to be.

Now imagine yourself standing between these two worlds.

Behind you,

The wind of your fears.

Ahead of you,

The glow of your dreams.

Feel both,

The wind at your back pushing you forward,

The light ahead pulling you onward.

Together they create momentum,

Not from struggle but from understanding.

I invite you to repeat to yourself silently or out loud the following.

I am guided by vision,

Not held by fear.

My future calls me forward.

My past no longer holds me.

I am both pushed and pulled towards my purpose.

Let these words settle in your heart like seeds in fertile soil.

With each breath feel them take root and grow stronger.

As you continue to nurture those seeds of change with your natural breath,

I invite you to listen,

Not just with your ears but with your whole being.

There's a spark that lives inside you,

That whispers when you stray.

A light that pulls you onward and a shadow on the way,

But both are friends upon the path.

They teach you how to run,

For when you chase the morning light,

The night is where it's won.

Now bring your awareness back to your breath.

Inhale gently through your nose,

Exhale through your mouth.

Feel the surface beneath you,

The weight of your body and the rhythm of your breath.

When you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes and simply rest in the stillness.

Carry forward into the rest of your day the wisdom that you now know what you run from and toward.

May your fears give you strength,

Your dreams give you direction,

And your heart guide you on your way.

Namaste.
