Hello and welcome.

I invite you to find a comfortable position either sitting,

Lying down or standing somewhere quiet.

Close your eyes or hold a soft gaze and take a deep belly breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Feel your body settling into the practice.

Let your shoulders relax,

Your jaw unclench and your mind to begin to ease.

Bring your attention to the sounds in your environment.

Don't label them as good or bad,

Just listen.

Notice how sound arises,

Lingers and fades away.

The ticking of the clock,

The traffic outside or the humming of electricity.

This is listening without prejudice.

No judgement,

No resistance,

Just awareness.

Now turn your attention to your thoughts as if they were sounds in the distance.

Notice each one as it appears without trying to push it away or hold on to it.

Just simply listen.

When we listen without prejudice,

We allow life to speak to us just as it is.

We make space for love,

Compassion and understanding.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

As you exhale,

Imagine releasing.

Release all assumptions,

All expectations and all judgements.

Now silently repeat to yourself.

I listen with kindness.

I listen with compassion.

I listen without prejudice.

Feel your heart expand with these words,

Knowing that every time you truly listen to yourself,

To others and to the world,

You are at peace.

Take one final deep breath in and slowly breathe out.

When you are ready,

Open your eyes and carry this sense of openness and non-judgemental listening with you throughout your day.
