Spring clean your inner world.
It's helpful to take time to create inner space within your heart and mind.
As we clear space and spring clean our homes,
It's also important to bring a sense of freshness to ourselves,
To refresh our inner world,
The inner world that we inhabit within ourselves.
Here we can release the accumulated stress and the waste that gets built up.
We can let go of patterns which no longer serve us and invite in that which creates a positive sense of well-being and even wonder.
Could you start by making yourself supremely comfortable in your chosen position?
You could lay down and cover up in a bed or sofa,
Or you may prefer to listen seated in an upright position to keep yourself more alert.
Whichever way you would like to receive this guidance,
Take your time to get really comfortable and make yourself receptive and awake.
We'll begin with a few rounds of deep cleansing breaths.
Inhale deep into your belly,
Open the mouth and let the breath out slowly and fully.
Inhale through the nose,
Deep into the belly,
And as you exhale really allow your body to settle and your mind to quieten.
Again,
Deep breath to the belly,
Exhale slowly and fully.
If you haven't already closed your eyes,
Allow them to gently close now.
Feel your body settling into this space.
And just notice in your own location within yourself,
How you're feeling to be here.
What's present for you in this moment?
Drop down out of your thinking mind and follow the breath gently down and out of the body.
Flowing with the in and the out breath like the breath is a wave,
As though the breath is like an ocean wave.
Drifting in,
Down,
Around and out.
Effortless and easy.
And I'd like to invite you to place a hand on your heart or on your belly or one on each part of the body.
If there's another location in the body that would feel more connecting for you,
Go there.
And just let the hands rest wherever they've landed.
And feel that sense of groundedness and connection to yourself.
Feel how the body is getting softer and easier.
Consciously let go of any tension that you might be holding,
Any resistance,
Tightness,
Strain.
And bring into your awareness anything that you are ready to let go of.
This could be something that's just a physical tightness in the body,
A pain,
A discomfort.
And as you breathe out,
Just imagine that gently releasing out of the body.
And as you do that,
Have a sense of friendliness towards yourself.
So it's not as though you're getting rid of something,
But you're just letting it go in a supportive way with yourself.
In a kind way,
Letting go.
And as you breathe in,
Is there something you would like to invite into your body,
Into your being?
Maybe a sense of kinship,
Kindness,
Compassion,
Some gratitude,
A feeling of warmth and friendliness towards yourself.
So we're utilizing the breath in this gentle,
Supportive way of welcoming in something fresh and new and supportive towards our well-being.
And as you're breathing out,
A gentle sense of letting go,
A natural way of releasing something that is no longer serving you.
Even just the way that there might be a frown on the forehead or a tightness in the eyes.
Or searching for the right way of doing something.
Just letting something go,
Drawing in some spaciousness and friendliness through the in-breath.
And a gentle releasing on the out-breath without too much effort.
Keep it natural.
I'd like you now to imagine that you're standing at a door and just notice a door in front of your mind's eye.
You might just visualize the color,
The shape of this door,
The type of handle that's in front of on it.
And as you bring this door into life,
Imagine yourself opening the door and stepping into a room.
And as you step in,
You notice how cluttered this room is.
It's got piles of paper and books and waste.
It's chaotic.
Maybe it's dusty.
Maybe the windows are closed.
So I'd like you to just imagine a room that is needing some love,
Needing some attention,
Needing your attention.
And just notice how you feel as you look at this space before you.
Notice your response or reaction to it.
And putting that aside,
Whatever that reaction might be,
Find yourself engaging with a supportive tidying up process.
You might find some cleaning products that you could start to clean the floor or clean the surfaces of the furniture.
You might find yourself throwing away items that no longer are needed.
You might open a window and let some fresh air in and let the sunlight in.
So notice yourself doing these things easily and smoothly,
Just going about the business of cleaning and clearing and reshaping this space.
As part of that process,
You might also want to add into the space some new furniture or some colour.
Maybe bring some flowers in.
It's your inner space.
You can do whatever you like with it.
And you can make this as bold as you like.
Make it unique for you.
What would you love in this room?
You might find a beautiful fireplace that was covered over by a piece of furniture and light a fire and watch the logs burning.
You might hang some fresh long muslin curtains at the window.
You might bring plants or cushions or a beautiful sofa into the space.
So take your time and know that you can keep revisiting this space to enhance it.
It doesn't all have to be done immediately.
Be patient with yourself and see if you can just lighten up about how you're doing this and enjoy this process of clearing and reshaping this internal environment.
Notice what you want to let go of and what you're choosing to keep.
What you're bringing in that's new and fresh and what purpose that might serve you.
And then stand back and look at this beautiful space that you've created.
Feel your smile on your face and in your heart as you look and you absorb this sense of wonder and how this might have affected you on the inside.
How do you feel?
You can either stay inside this room or you might choose to leave it and come back to it another time.
So again,
Just take your time.
Go in your own flow.
There might be more clearing to be done at some point and you can come back and do that.
But if you're ready,
Begin and return by deepening the breath,
Just gently energizing the body.
Notice what you're bringing back into this time and space as you return gently into the environment that you're in now.
You may choose to do a little bit of reflective journaling or go for a walk and just reflect on what was there.
So take care of yourself as you step into the rest of your day and come back and listen again whenever is helpful for you and you feel you need to reconnect with this inner space clearing.
Thank you so much for listening.
Namaste.
