
Progressive Muscular Relaxation Mindfulness Meditation
This is a mindfulness meditation experience where the listener is invited to participate in the classic Progressive Muscular Relaxation technique. We start with the muscles of the face and jaw and slowly work our way down to the feet. There are three levels of muscle contraction intensity: 1) 100% for just a few seconds, 2) 50% for just a few seconds and 3) 10% ever so slight, for just a few moments. Muscle tension is the number one symptom of stress. This experience invites the listener to become more mindful of any sense of muscle tension in their body and release it by becoming more aware of their body (similar to a body scan ). Music for this meditation was commissioned by me for this session from the works of composer James Owen Mathews.
