Welcome to this Tree of Life guided meditation.
We're here to end the day together and to get to know the deeper parts of ourselves.
We're here to meet our energetic body,
To experience our intrinsic wholeness and our intrinsic holiness.
I want you to call to mind the image of the Tree of Life.
I want you to see it in your mind's eyes,
Its colors,
Its swirling shapes,
The channels of energy that connect and move through it.
Right now,
As we end the day together and we settle into deep relaxation,
We're going to map that Tree of Life on our bodies.
We're going to remember that whatever this day held,
Whatever stresses or fears,
Whatever wounds,
Unkind words or missed opportunities,
That those are fleeting things,
That you are here now,
Safe and whole.
And that even if the outsides of you picked up a little bit of soot today,
Perhaps a mess here or there that needs to be dusted off,
That the deepest parts of you are untouched,
Whole and pure.
Let's call to mind again the cup of the Stick Tree of Life.
You might choose to open your eyes,
Take a moment and look at it so that you can see it clearly in your mind's eye.
So as you are stretched out in total relaxation,
You can visualize these 10 energy centers within.
Keter lights up at the crown of your head.
Chochmah lights up at the tip top of your forehead,
Your hairline.
Bina lights up at your third eye.
Chesed lights up on your right,
Your right eye,
Your right shoulder.
Kvura lights up on your left,
Your left eye,
Your left shoulder.
Tiferet,
The holy eye,
Lights up at the heart center.
Hands resting on the bones of the pelvis.
Netzach lights up to the right,
Kidney.
Hod lights up to the left,
Liver and spleen.
Yesod lights up at the sexual center.
And as you feel your legs stretched out like the roots of your tree,
See Malchut,
Shchina,
The tenth Sveera,
Light up at your root.
We are climbing our sacred internal ladder,
Higher and higher,
Or perhaps deeper and deeper,
On our way to revelation,
To that sacred point,
The tip top of our mountain,
Or deep,
Deep down,
Within,
Where we can hear our own still small voice,
Where our soul speaks to us,
Whispers,
Reminding us who we are,
Who we were born to be.
And in that process of climbing the ladder,
This week we are in the week of Yesod.
Yesod is our passion.
It's our sexuality.
Now before we can begin to explore the deeper parts of ourselves,
We need to fully relax.
And that's what we're here to do.
We're here to end our day with a sense of wholeness.
To let go of any moments of frustration,
Or sadness,
Or overwhelm,
Or loneliness.
And instead to settle back in to an intrinsic sense of wholeness.
So take a look around where you are right now,
Maybe in your room,
Or maybe on a comfy couch.
And just become aware that right now,
If you are listening to this podcast,
You are alright.
In fact,
You're probably better off than 99% of the people on the planet.
You're warm.
You probably had food to eat today.
And you're safe right now.
So take a moment now and come to a comfortable position.
Maybe you're stretched out on your bed.
And just give your weight fully over to whatever surface is holding you.
Whether that's a couch or a chair,
Or your bed or the floor.
Uncross your legs.
Uncross your arms.
And take up as much space as you need.
And take a deep breath in.
And just feel your basic sense of okayness.
I am okay.
I want you now to call to mind the image of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.
It's ten swirling energy centers,
Arranged like a holy ladder.
See their colors in your mind's eye.
Red.
Orange.
Yellow.
Green.
Blue.
Indigo.
Violet.
See their arrangement top to bottom.
The pairs that face each other.
The individuals that stand alone.
And let this image of this sacred ladder be in your mind's eye as we relax our bodies.
So your body is stretched out and calm.
And we begin from the tips of the toes.
Relax your feet.
Relax your feet.
Your feet are completely relaxed.
Relax your calves.
Relax your calves.
Your calves are completely relaxed.
Relax your knees.
Relax your knees.
Your knees are completely relaxed.
And just letting whatever is arising come up and out.
So if you need to sigh or cry,
Just as it comes,
You let it move through you.
Relax your quadriceps.
Relax your quads.
Your quads and thighs are completely relaxed.
Your legs are completely relaxed.
Relax your pelvis.
Relax your pelvis.
Your pelvis is completely relaxed.
Relax your belly.
Relax your belly.
Your belly is completely relaxed.
Relax your ribs.
Relax your lungs.
Relax your diaphragm.
Relax your heart.
Your torso is completely relaxed.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your shoulders.
Your shoulders are completely relaxed.
Relax your arms.
Relax your arms.
Your arms are completely relaxed.
Relax your hands.
Relax your hands.
Your hands are completely relaxed.
Relax your neck.
Relax your throat.
Your neck is completely relaxed.
Relax your forehead.
Relax your eyelids.
Relax your cheeks.
Relax your tongue.
Relax your face.
Your face is completely relaxed.
You are completely relaxed.
Take a deep breath in.
Feel fullness.
And exhale out the mouth.
Feel everything soften.
And know that if now you fall off to sleep,
That is just fine.
May you be carried into a land of peacefulness and wholeness,
Of healing sleep.
Now from this place of deep relaxation,
We're going to begin a process of deep listening into the heart center.
We see the 10 points of energy around our body.
We see the channel like the Hebrew letter Vav at the center line up our spine.
And we know that as we draw energy up from our roots with each inhale,
That energy feeds the heart.
The center of our being is called in Kabbalistic parlance to ferret,
Our sense of I.
And our sense of I in the conception of Kabbalah is fed from above by divine love and from below by human passion.
Love from above.
Passionate fiery energy from below.
And fueled,
Lit up in these two ways with fire from below.
With love from above.
We see the heart center light up,
Beginning to expand.
At the center of the Jewish people,
The Torah offers us the image of a sacred fire,
A ne'er tamid that was kept burning at all times.
The tabernacle,
Which then later became the temple,
Where that ne'er tamid burned at the center of the center of the center of the center of the people.
In the center of that tabernacle or that temple,
There stood an altar.
And opposite the altar,
There were two angels fashioned from one piece of pure gold.
Those angels,
The Torah teaches,
Spend eternity gazing into the eyes of the other.
And it is from within that gaze,
That place at the center of the center of the center of the center,
It is that place from which God speaks.
It is that place that is the source of revelation.
So we begin to feel our way into that place at the center.
Breathing deeply in,
Feeling the heart center fill with light,
Fed by love from above,
By passion from below.
And we begin to listen to the Torah that emerges from that place.
The Torah that's found deep in our hearts.
We stay here in the stillness,
With the breath,
In deep listening.
