This is a Dazzling Darkness guided meditation.
Over the course of the next 10 minutes,
We will drop beneath the world of created things,
Cultivating a felt sense of that which links and joins us all.
The very canvas of creation,
The void from which all thingness emerges.
It is wonderful to do this guided meditation lying flat with eyes closed or opposite a starry night,
Eyes opened with a softened gaze.
For the void we explore together here exists all around us and deep within us.
In the Qabbalistic tradition,
The void is known as Ein Sof,
The limitless.
It is the birthplace of all that is.
Arrange yourself now into a comfortable position,
Lying flat,
Palms gently resting on the belly,
Or perhaps with a softened gaze looking at the night sky.
Whatever your body position,
Bring yourself now to stillness,
Journey inward.
Our five senses are designed to perceive the world of things,
The world of is-ness.
In order to experience the void,
We must lay our sense perception to rest.
By softening our sense of self,
By softening our sense of separate,
We find ourselves cradled in the palm of the void.
Be still,
Unfurl the fingers,
Soften the face,
Allow the tip of the tongue to rest on the back of the teeth,
Allow the legs to splay slightly open,
Be at ease.
Our thoughts,
Our feelings are born from the void and dissolve again into the void.
So if at any point during this meditation you find your attention wrapped up in a particular thought or particular feeling,
Become not attached.
Instead,
Rest your attention on that thought as though riding on the beam of a comet.
Observe it,
Follow it as it dissolves again into the void.
The void is all around us and deep within us,
In the space within every atom rests the void,
In the space within every cell of your body rests the void,
In the space between your organs rests the void,
In the space between you and me rests the void.
To perceive the void is to remember the central teaching of Qabbalah,
That this is a world not of emptiness but of profound fullness,
Resting between me and you is a space pregnant with potential.
Feel the body soft and at ease,
Feel it met,
Held,
Cradled by the void.
Imagine your body is a constellation of stars,
Dazzling darkness.
Imagine the constellation of stars that is your body resting in a sea of stars,
Dazzling darkness.
Imagine this sea of stars extending out towards infinity in every direction through time and space.
Feel yourself floating on this sea of stars,
This dazzling darkness.
Feel the uniform substance that is all around you and within you.
Feel the loss that would be if you chose to become a wave that would crest on the sea,
How you would separate from the dazzling darkness that holds all and surrounds all.
Feel the bliss of being in this terrain of no thingness,
Dazzling darkness at one with dazzling darkness,
No thing,
Infinite potential,
All that ever will be,
All that ever has been,
Has been born from this place,
Returns again to this place.
This dazzling darkness is the canvas of creation,
It is divinity,
It is not one,
It is all.
But rather it is best represented as zero.
Even thingness,
Even oneness makes this dazzling darkness smaller.
Here we rest in the terrain of the infinite,
The vast,
Expansive,
Void.
Stay here now as long as you are able and when you're ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Inviting your awareness back in to your separate sense of self.
Move slowly and gently,
Always remembering that this infinite space of dazzling darkness is your home,
Your birthright,
It is available to you,
Whatever you need to soften,
Surrender,
Recharge.
