This short practice invites you to visualize a perimeter between yourself and the outer world, invoking an element (earth, wind, fire, water, etc). Guidance into the breath then invites you to call your energy "Home" in your body, to be clarified through this elemental barrier. Everything in your world is invited to find it's right relationship to you from this place.

Taking a few moments,

Noticing the breath,

Noticing your body,

And noticing if you could be even 5% more comfortable.

Making any adjustments through your head and neck,

Through your shoulders,

Through your hips and sit bones.

Finding a posture for this practice,

Whether seated or standing or laying down.

And wherever you are in space and time,

With eyes open or with eyes closed,

I invite you to invoke a perimeter around you.

An energetic boundary or barrier,

And invoking an element around you as that perimeter.

It might be air,

Fire,

Water,

It could be electric,

It could be a plant,

Maybe like vines or a rose bush.

Visualizing some perimeter,

And this is a permeable boundary,

It's not meant to keep others out.

It's really meant to keep you in,

And resourced,

And to offer a bit of protection from the overwhelm of the external world.

If a vision comes to you of this boundary,

I invite you to notice how close is it to you?

Is it a few inches from your body?

All around the body?

Is it maybe a foot or a few feet around you?

Is there any movement?

Is there any movement that keeps it alive and living?

As this boundary,

This permeable membrane is meant to respond to you and your need.

When you feel complete with some visual,

I'll invite you to tune into your breath.

And beginning to really just call yourself back from your world,

Back from relationships and to do this,

Back from homework,

Your work,

All that asks anything from you.

And as you inhale,

Just calling yourself back.

And as you inhale to call your energy home,

It's just being pulled through this permeable boundary.

And anything that isn't yours,

It's not of you,

It's not for you,

Maybe it's someone else's or something else's,

That just sort of lands to the periphery of you.

As you inhale,

Calling yourself home.

And as you exhale,

Absorbing.

Inhaling to call yourself,

More of yourself,

Back and down into your body.

And as you exhale,

Absorbing.

You might imagine your energy like silky threads or a warm light,

Making its way back to you,

Moving through your perimeter,

So that all that is not yours just lands into its right place around you.

It's not too close,

It's not too far away.

You can always come back to it later.

But in this moment,

Your energy,

Your presence,

Your mind,

Your creativity,

It's yours.

And absorbing all that is too loud,

Too bright,

Too demanding,

Just has to wait,

Has to wait for you to approach your own perimeter.

It's waiting for your invitation as you absorb yourself back into yourself.

And perhaps taking three more cycles of breath,

Invoking this practice,

Exploring how it is alive in you.

And as you're ready,

If your eyes were closed,

Gently re-enlivening at your pace and in your way.

If you'd like,

You can stretch your hands,

Your arms out to either side,

Your arms creating a natural periphery that says,

This is where I begin.

And this is where the world has to come and meet me.

So perhaps moving,

Twisting through your torso,

Arms side to side a few times,

Feeling into that which is just naturally your space,

Your bubble.

And as you're ready,

Re-emerging into the work,

Into the worlds,

Feeling just a bit more connected to yourself in where you begin,

In where the world rises to meet you.
