Practising gratitude on a regular basis helps you focus on the positives in your life, which has been shown to promote feelings of happiness and to reduce stress. But, when you're running short on time and you only have a minute to spare, this is the perfect gratitude meditation for you.

Transcript

Welcome to this short and sweet gratitude meditation.

Find a comfortable position,

Either seated or lying down.

Close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in and an even slower breath out.

Soften your shoulders.

Relax your body.

Now bring to mind one thing that you're feeling grateful for today.

It could be a person,

A special event,

A favourite place,

Or something small like the birds outside your window.

Visualize it in detail in your mind's eye.

As you continue to breathe,

Focus on that feeling of gratitude.

Notice where in your body you feel it.

Is it in your heart,

Your belly,

Or maybe the palms of your hands?

With each breath,

Allow that feeling of gratitude to get bigger,

To expand,

To become brighter.

Then flutter your eyes open and carry this feeling with you for the rest of your day.
