This is a recording of the opening meditation from the Live Events on 21/1/26. This spacious track accompanies previously published Live Event recordings Nos 1-4. Once again, the meditator is led to the abiding Heart of Awareness-Presence, the spacious-freedom of the unmoving background to all perceiving and points of view. As we increasingly move away from the focus of the physical mind through the pointings of these meditations, we open ourselves to the formless nature of our inherent presence, one's inseparable and timeless awareness. Each meditation has a slightly different pointing, each bringing a recognition of the stillness - silence of the boundless nature of Being.

Transcript

Meditate on that which is present before the world appears.

Just take a nice deep breath,

At the top of the breath,

Pause for a moment,

And then as you exhale,

Let your breath land where it will,

And be present just as you are.

We're not trying to be anything,

We're not desiring anything.

We're not wanting anything to be in any particular way.

We are still,

Deeply relaxed.

We are formless,

Nothing to look at or to find,

All that the mind would use to identify with a non-existent.

We are simply here,

In the moment,

The spaciousness and the flow of now.

Remain still,

And focus.

We are the field of infinite potential,

And here we are,

And free.

We haven't arrived,

We are eternally present,

And nothing is happening in this space.

We are present,

As the natural mind,

Pure awareness.

Try not to create any imagery of what awareness is,

It is beyond anything the mind can comprehend.

And anything that does come,

Perhaps,

As an image,

Is just a thought,

Which is just part of mind,

So let it go.

Awareness simply is,

The is-ness of now,

And rest here.

This is your true nature,

This is your being-ness,

This is the silent background,

The unchanging silent background,

To all perceiving,

All experiences,

All sensations,

And everything that appears in our day,

Is simply an appearance within infinite awareness,

A temporary appearance.

Or whatever appears,

Is finite,

Where we are eternal,

We can be the characters in the play of life,

As we need to,

To conduct ourselves in a meaningful way,

But we know this is not what we are,

So whatever character in the play we are,

Our background is still peaceful,

Joyful,

Wise,

Discerning,

Creative,

Loving,

Compassionate,

Then we can become the embodiment of all of these in our daily activities,

For whatever happens outwardly,

We do not react emotionally,

We are discerning and caring,

With clear seeing,

And know when to or not to be present in any situation that arises,

Because we know whatever appears is temporary,

It is the play of life,

Many people abound by it,

Fearful of it,

Confused by it,

But with this wisdom,

With this clear seeing of imperturbable awareness,

We in our knowing are very clear as to what it is that is unfolding within the world,

And this is our power,

This is our strength,

In clear seeing,

In compassionate giving,

In wise counselling,

Whatever it is,

It is an appearance which does not disturb the unchanging background of our imperturbable awareness,

We are at peace,

Because peace is our essence,

Our natural state of being is peaceful,

But peace cannot be found or discussed or come to a decision about,

It has to be recognised,

For that recognition has not come through any of the filters of the mind,

No agendas behind any decision,

It is pure and unconditional,

It comes from the highest source of purity,

This is our truth,

And this we offer humbly,

Selflessly,

Unconditionally,

And now to finish this moment in the now,

Take a nice long deep breath,

And then exhale.
