Challenging life circumstances and lingering issues can lead individuals to experience feelings of despair and powerlessness. One potential solution lies in a shift in mindset, wherein the situation itself remains unchanged but emotions are more effectively managed. Adopting a philosophical perspective, such as embracing the notion that "This too shall pass," can aid in navigating difficult times. The guided meditation "Ocean" serves as a tool to cultivate the capacity to observe situations objectively, providing relief from emotional strain and fostering a state of resourcefulness during stressful moments. Through this practice, individuals can enhance their ability to maintain composure and resilience in the face of adversity. This meditation contains background music: 'I Walk With Ghosts' by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0.

Take a comfortable position on the floor,

On a pillow,

Or in a chair.

Focus your spine as if a string is stretched from its base upwards to the top of your head and to the ceiling.

Gently close your eyes.

Let your hands rest at your sides or in your lap.

Pay attention to your body.

Feel your muscles become relaxed and loose.

Scan your body from head to toe,

Looking for places where you feel tension.

Tense those areas even more for a moment.

And then,

On an exhale,

Release the tension.

Now let's turn your attention to your breathing.

Begin with three full,

Deep inhalations and exhalations.

Think about your problem that is causing you stress.

It could be a present problem,

Or it could be something that happened once that still makes you feel stressed.

Or maybe it's just anxious thoughts.

Imagine the problem visually,

As if it were happening right now.

Feel how your body reacts to the experience.

You feel strong feelings,

Anger,

Irritation,

Fear,

Or panic.

Or maybe you feel ashamed or guilty.

Imagine your problem is a raging ocean.

Huge,

Heavy waves are rising above the surface and crashing down with splashing waves.

A strong,

Squally wind drives the waves forward.

A low,

Leading sky overhangs the ocean.

Rain pours down.

Thunder rumbles.

Imagine yourself as a boat resisting the elements.

It is carried on the waves,

Flooded with the rain,

Beaten by the wind.

Feel the colossal tension that is possible to imagine in the struggle against the raging ocean.

Now mentally dive under the water,

Not far from the surface.

The howl of the wind and the sound of the water became quiet,

Muffled.

Strong,

Destructive waves have been replaced by smooth oscillation of water.

Grey color by blue shimmering.

Along with this,

Your body begins to relax.

The tension goes away.

Your breathing comes down.

Your heartbeat becomes even.

Imagine yourself as a fish swimming freely in the water column.

Your movements are smooth and unhurried.

You easily overcome the fluctuations of the water and what happens on the surface.

You do not care much.

In your mind sink to the very bottom of the ocean.

There is peace and tranquility.

You can't hear the waves and storms at all.

The deep-sea fish moves unhurriedly.

The marine animals and mollusks do their graceful dance.

Sounds are almost absent.

Imagine yourself as a shell lying at the bottom of the ocean.

Emotionless and indifferent.

Relax your body as much as possible.

Calm your breathing and dissolve your consciousness.

Feel your indifference,

Peace,

Stillness.

Now again mentally transport yourself to the surface of the ocean.

You are a cruiser.

Big,

Powerful,

Strong.

Your turbines are running smoothly.

Your hull is solid and sturdy.

The ocean waves break into millions of splashes when they meet the bow of the cruiser.

The elements can do no damage.

It makes its journey following its course preciously.

Feel how confidently you cope with the situation.

Survive life's bad weather.

Solve the problems that arise.

Mentally say to yourself,

I can handle it.

And make a revision of the potential stored in your soul,

In your body,

In your mind.

Now imagine a calm ocean,

Shimmering with many reflections.

A light breeze and a piercing blue sky.

Sooner or later the ocean of your life will calm down.

The storm will change to calm and you will be able to enjoy the harmony and serenity that can only be appreciated after the storm has passed.

Now gently return to normal breathing.

It's time to leave the ocean.

Watch the ocean waves and warm sand dissolving into your consciousness.

Slowly open your eyes and take in your surroundings.
