Practice this simple technique before moving to the longer version posted with your class. Box breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety in just a few minutes.  Box breathing helps clear the mind, making it easier to let go of the previous lesson and prepare mentally for the new one. Students become more mindful by engaging in this focused, intentional breathing, helping them stay present and grounded as they move from one task or environment to another.

Transcript

For this breath,

All we need to do is simply exhale all the air in our body through our nose,

Bring the belly to the spine,

And then inhale for a count of four.

Hold the breath for a count of four.

Exhale through the nose,

Forcing the breath out,

Bringing the belly to the spine for a count of four,

And then holding empty for a count of four.

And we'll do that for three minutes.
