Finding The Inner Compass Of Your Heart
This is a recording of a brief talk sharing a personal perspective on how you can center into your heart and live in the now. I share the two questions I ask myself when faced with challenging decisions that require tuning into my inner compass to be truthful to myself.

Okay,
When I was in my 20s and I had a tough decision to make,
And not just a tough decision,
But like one that required me to take a huge leap of faith or to be really brave,
I would ask myself two things.
I would say,
Okay,
What do I want my daughter to know about me?
And then I would say,
When I'm at the end of my life and I look back,
What decision would I have been proud of myself to make?
And almost every time,
That would lead me to take a brave leap of faith,
Something scary,
Probably I think I started doing this when I was moving out of the country.
But it also would keep me in a place of being respectful to myself because I would also not be proud of not honoring myself.
And I think this is interesting because I don't have kids now,
And the idea of my daughter,
My future daughter,
Knowing my legacy without me having to say a word about it,
I think is what really drove me because we can tell people our story and we can say things and craft it and explain,
But if you didn't say a word and you lived only by the actions that you took,
What would they say?
And we often talk about how it's important to live in the now and make decisions from the now,
But both of those questions that I asked myself were based on a future that I really didn't know was possible.
And I think being in the now in a way that's effective is really about being able to live from your heart because when you're in your heart,
Then that moment,
That action that you take is true to you and it ripples out into your past and your future.
So in that way,
You're in the now,
But the reality is that in general,
We have so much overlaying our hearts.
We have our pain,
We have our sorrows and sadness and regret and guilt.
So that really getting into that pure space of heart,
That space that's connected to your mind and connected to spirit can almost be impossible.
And so what happens instead is that we can sit in this place of overthinking and paying attention to like just going into,
Okay,
If I do this and that could happen and this would happen and this would happen.
And it takes you into this spiral of madness,
Essentially,
Because you're just in your mind.
And within our minds,
We can go through every possible reality.
We can go through the what's,
The ifs,
The ups,
The downs,
And it's just a maze.
Whereas when you drop into your heart,
There really is only that now,
Only that truth in that moment.
And I think that this ties back to the two questions that I asked myself because without realizing it,
What I was saying was,
How can I be true to my heart and what is my heart?
It was almost like I personified my heart,
Right?
Because if I have a daughter,
How could I love anyone more than that?
Like how could my heart be manifest in another being more than a daughter who is looking up to me and who I'm leading and teaching and I mean,
Come on,
Right?
And the other thing is myself at the end of my life,
When I'm looking back on everything that I've done,
Who I was,
What am I taking with me?
What do I regret?
Like I was basically personifying my heart and asking my heart,
What should I do?
So maybe you can do that.
You know,
What is the personification of your heart so that you can find a compass while you're on the path of healing your heart and how much we can keep unraveling the layers to get to our truth.
And it's really worth it when you do that because even if you're using the personification of your heart,
When you get to an outcome,
You are more able to just have faith in the next outcome.
Meaning like when you take a decision and when you make a decision,
Something happens and then you have to make another one because life goes on,
Of course,
You can do it again versus when you're in your head and you're thinking and you're analyzing,
You've come up with all these potentials and then you take an action and the result,
You analyze against all the other potentials that you thought might have happened.
So then you try and again,
Orchestrate the outcome of the next step.
And that's like a never ending cycle until you just say,
No,
Stop,
I'm dropping it.
What am I going to do?
How do I feel about it?
And like,
What is moving me?
What is compelling me in this decision?
So what is your heart?
What can you do right now to create a tie between your heart and the heart that's really guiding you?
And if you're in a space where you can drop into your heart and really trust your gut instincts and your guidance and you feel a purity there,
Wonderful,
Wonderful,
Share with the world how you've done it.
But if you're not and you're still caught in a space of confusion sometimes and uncertainty and hesitation and taking those big bold steps,
Maybe you can find a way to personify your heart and talk to it.
For some people,
This is the inner child.
I know in my friend's post,
It said your five year old self because our inner child is also someone that we should be connected with and talking to because that inner child is a part of us and we also take actions to protect our inner child and to nurture and to integrate.
But for me,
It wasn't my inner child.
It was a potential child.
So what can that be for you?
It's worth it to figure it out because the more you can live from your heart,
The more you expand your heart and the more the world around you expands and you leap outside of that comfort zone.
You leap outside of a world that you might have not known you could leave.
But on the other side is more.
It's more of you.
It's more of your world.
And if you can support someone else in sharing your story,
Please do that because we all need it.

I was resolving this lunar cycle to focus on the intention of soft-heartedness and tenderness. To embody love would mean to be guided by my heart, to personify that inner child, the inner artist that Julia Cameron talks about in The Artistβs Way. This is my connection to the Spirit of Creativity, the breath of life that animates me. Thank you for articulating this process of honouring oneself and taking adventurous leaps into the future to become the person one desires to be, to make a world that loves itself.

This is exactly what I needed. I didnβt realize that I was choosing a meditation that precisely made me focus on the potential daughter that I may very well have. Yet Iβm here thinking how can I get to know my boyfriend and his daughter. Iβll invite them to the beach π. How cosmic. πNamaste ππΎ

This is a beautiful talk, a beautiful message spoken from, Your beautiful soul. Thank you ππ» so much for sharing this. I know that when I move into my heart space and relinquish fear and doubt and trust my heart space, I move into a place of living that is so freeing. This is a gentle reminder to do this more often, the more we do it, The more easier it becomes. Our lives are meant to be full of love and following our intuition creates more of that love for us to live more freely and soulfully. ππππβ¨ππππ

Wow..exactly what I'm working on...do you have a website or some way we can follow you? Great talk. Listened again this morning ...timely in that Iβm trying to make important decisions but I always look outside for guidance instead of following my own heart offered jos but my hope is for friends and stability...priorities are important and that which reflects the heart. I really like your idea! It totally resonated for me. I have often been able to do emotionally difficult things that needed to be done because I wanted my kids to have a good example. Without that concept, I know I would have waffled longer and remained in overthinking. Your description was perfect.
