The raindrop meditation.

Practice the raindrop meditation to heighten your ability and to expand your capacity of being present.

Picture in your mind's eye a leaf.

There's a tree and on the tree there's a branch.

And coming off the branch there's this twig.

On this twig there is a bunch of leaves.

Get close to one of the leaves so that in your vision it seems like one really big leaf.

Notice the leaf's spine and its veins.

Notice the variations of the green in the leaf.

Now close your eyes and picture the leaf.

Keeping your eyes closed,

Keeping that leaf in your focus,

Picture a raindrop.

Just one single solitary raindrop coming off the end where the tip of the leaf.

The raindrop,

However,

Does not fall.

It moves,

Heading toward form.

The raindrop is moving ever so slowly to the end of the tip of the leaf and yet it never falls.

Slowly,

Slowly,

Slowly,

As if in slow motion the raindrop moves,

Getting closer and closer to where it would drop off the leaf.

Yet it never does drop from the leaf.

Your job in this meditation is to focus on that one raindrop for the entirety of the meditation.

There will be other things that happen,

Just like in life.

The dog will bark,

A car will go by,

A child will cry or laugh,

Your nose will itch.

You'll feel whatever you feel.

All there is for you to do is to focus on that one raindrop about to fall off the end of that one leaf.

In the meditation,

However,

The raindrop never actually drops.

In your meditation,

If the raindrop falls,

Which it might,

Just start all over again.

If you notice that you are focusing on something else,

Simply bring your attention back to that one water drop.

Notice how it glistens in the light.

Notice the light and the shadow,

The colorations,

The shaping.

Notice how it alters ever so slightly,

Beat by beat.

And this is a 30 minute meditation.

After completing the meditation,

Allow yourself to be present to what is present.

The air,

Your nose,

The sounds you can hear,

Whatever you are feeling in your body,

Whatever you are feeling emotionally.

Simply allow yourself to be present to what is present.

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What do you feel?

What do you smell?

What thoughts come to the fore?

Now begin to consciously widen and heighten being present to all that is,

Like being aware of the feelings behind you,

Underneath you,

Above you,

At the angles,

And in front of you.

It's holographic and spiritual.

360 degrees.

Cause yourself to broaden the range of everything that's present in your experience.

And experience that moment by moment by moment.
