Sit back,
Relax and just close your eyes.
In a few moments,
You are going to be more relaxed than you've ever known yourself to be.
I'm going to mention certain parts of your body and as I do,
I just want you to feel that part begin to relax.
Just feel that part begin to relax.
I wonder if you can take in a deep breath and as you exhale,
Notice how you begin to relax even more now.
In order to help you relax,
I want you to imagine yourself in a wonderfully magical forest.
It's almost nighttime and the sky is a beautiful indigo blue.
The stars are coming out and the moon is lighting up the rich forest trees.
And off in the distance,
You hear the sounds of a bubbling brook and the crickets seem to be lulling you to sleep.
And as you lie motionless,
You begin noticing a wonderfully white light just above your head.
This white light is the most relaxing light you can imagine and it begins to lower around the crown of your head and you seem to be touched with a desire and willingness to relax deeper and deeper with every breath you take.
Continuing to lower now,
It begins to touch your forehead and as it does,
I want you to feel all of the little worry lines,
All of the little frown lines in the forehead just seem to disappear.
The forehead smooths out,
Feels so relaxed and you feel this relaxing light coming down around your eyes.
Now the eyelids seem to be becoming very,
Very heavy,
So heavy they don't seem to want to open.
They may flutter a little bit,
But that's okay.
Just feel how heavy they are and as the relaxation comes down around the facial muscles now,
All of the little muscles in the facial area just begin to relax.
Relaxation comes further down around the mouth now and all the little muscles around the mouth just start to relax,
So much so that the lower jawbone becomes heavy and the teeth part.
The mouth may even open up a little bit with relaxation as you continue deeper and deeper relaxed.
Feel this relaxation now around the lower jawbone and behind the ears,
So that all the little nerve endings behind the ears just seem to relax as you continue deeper and deeper and even deeper.
The relaxation goes to the back of the neck now,
Down around the shoulders.
So much tension seems to go to our shoulders,
But now you feel your shoulders just begin to relax.
You may even feel them drop a little and the relaxation seems to go to the backbone now.
And as it goes down the spinal column,
It seems to go out to the sides so that every muscle,
Every nerve and every fibre in the back just seem to relax.
And the relaxation seems to come now to the small of your back and around your bottom.
This warm sense of relaxation comes to the back of your thighs now and into the hollows of your knees around the calves,
Around the heels to the bottom of your feet.
And each and every toe just relaxes even more and more as you go deeper and deeper and even deeper.
Calm,
Very peaceful and very relaxed.
And now if necessary,
Allow yourself to shift your body however you need to,
Knowing that with each movement you make you become even more comfortable and become even more and more relaxed.
We're going to proceed to relax the rest of you now,
Starting with the throat muscles.
Feel the throat muscles just start to relax.
The relaxation comes down the front of the shoulders,
Down the upper arms,
Over the elbows,
Down the forearms to the hands.
And each and every finger just relaxes more and more and more as you go deeper,
Deeper and deeper relaxed.
Just relaxing,
You're doing so very well as you continue to relax.
Feel the relaxation coming back to the throat muscles and down into the chest.
And all the muscles and organs within the chest now just begin to relax.
This relaxation continues down to the stomach area and all the muscles and organs within the stomach just seem to relax.
The warm sensation of relaxation goes down into the thighs and over the knees,
Down the shin bones,
Across the insteps of the feet and into the feet themselves.
And each and every toe just relaxes more and more as you go deeper and deeper,
Relaxing deeper.
And you continue to go deeper and even deeper.
Calm,
Very,
Very relaxed.
Now I want you to imagine yourself standing in this forest and at your feet is a beautiful stone stairway that leads downwards into a safe valley of relaxation.
This staircase will lead you into a profound state of deep,
Deep hypnosis.
We're going to go down these stairs now and as I count backwards from 10 to 0 each number will take you even deeper and deeper.
When you are ready to go down these stairs simply take a deep breath and relax deeper and deeper.
Ten,
Take that first step down.
Nine,
Going deeper.
Eight,
Way down now.
Seven,
Deeper and deeper.
Six,
Deeper and feeling very relaxed.
Five,
Deeper,
Deeper.
Four,
You are going into a deep state of hypnosis now.
Three,
Going deeper.
Two,
To relax,
To even move,
Feeling very calm.
One,
At the next number you will enter this beautiful place of peace and tranquility called deep,
Deep hypnosis,
More relaxed and peaceful than you've ever known yourself to be.
If that is okay with you,
Take a deep breath in and let it out to relax even deeper.
Wonderful,
Zero,
Welcome to this beautiful place called deep,
Deep hypnosis.
You are now feeling deeply relaxed and very comfortable as you rest here listening to the sound of my voice.
And I'm going to be talking to you about a problem that may have been bothering you recently.
And that problem is the constant clutter going on in your mind.
Mind clutter is a problem that many people experience.
And it can happen when you know that you need to concentrate on a task at hand,
But somehow your sense of focus is gone.
Or sometimes when you're trying to sleep and a stream of random thoughts keeps bombarding your mind.
Of course,
The more we try to get rid of these thoughts,
The harder it is to still the mind and fall asleep.
Mind clutter can interfere with our everyday lives and eventually,
If you're not enjoying a good night's rest on a regular basis,
It can also adversely affect our health.
The good news is that you have now decided to tackle that problem and you can do this with the help of your wonderful subconscious mind and the help of the techniques that I am going to teach you.
When you practice these techniques that I describe,
You will very soon be completely free of mind clutter and better able to function at your optimum level.
It's true that the brain never sleeps.
Even while our body is resting comfortably as yours is right now,
It just goes off to do all of its sorting and filing while you sleep.
And there's always so much to do.
Everything you have ever heard or done or seen or felt or even smelt is recorded,
Etched in those neural pathways and all this information has to be sorted.
Sometimes it can be like a noisy filing clerk sorting out what needs to go where,
Deciding what to keep or discard,
What is of use and what is junk.
Your mind flashes through so much information at such high speed,
Usually without you being consciously aware of what it's doing.
Your brain also has your hormones to regulate,
It has your heart to keep beating and your breathing to maintain as well as repairing any damaged cells or muscles or nerves in your body.
And all this goes on in the background.
Your subconscious mind on the other hand can contain the mind clutter and help you to focus on what is important right now.
However,
When we are worried or stressed or on edge,
The mind is often distracted and underperforms which is what happens when our minds become cluttered.
Visual imagery is the language of the brain.
Humans have been using this form of language since time immemorial which is what helped human beings to evolve as we did.
So I'd like you to use this wonderful natural resource,
Your creative subconscious,
To send directions to your brain to help it to cope with that clutter.
Visualise the scenes I described to the very best of your ability.
See them,
Sense them or just know that they are there.
So as you rest here,
I want you to imagine that you are alone in a cinema.
You are sitting in the back row as far away and detached as possible from the white screen.
It's dark in the cinema but the projection light is on so the screen is lit up.
It shines like a beam from a stationary lighthouse focusing directly onto the screen.
The screen represents your mind and as you sit watching the screen,
You notice it starts to fill up with random words and images.
You may even hear unintelligible noises coming through the speakers mounted on the walls just above your head.
This is the clutter of your mind.
This is what we are here to stop.
So take a deep breath and exhale slowly.
This will relax and calm you as you watch the clutter flashing across the screen.
I want you to imagine,
No,
I want you to see the clutter starting to merge into a large multicoloured ball.
It's like a beach ball or maybe a hot air balloon being inflated.
You are so distant from it that it just seems to merge and swirl around.
And as the clutter swirls around,
Perhaps you can notice how it forms itself into an indistinct ball or balloon.
Watch it all being sucked into the centre as it expands to fill the screen.
All the words,
All the images and any noise and those random thoughts and distractions are there swirling around in this large round sphere.
Take another deep breath now and exhale slowly.
And each time you exhale,
Watch carefully as the ball starts to deflate.
So focus on the ball and take slow deep breaths and see the ball deflate even more every time you exhale.
It's becoming smaller and dimmer,
Weaker and less significant.
Just keep on taking slow deep breaths and exhale slowly as the ball gets smaller and smaller.
And now the ball is so small that it is difficult to see.
What was once a huge ball is now just a pinprick of black on the blank white screen of your mind.
And even the pinprick is fading away.
It's disappearing and no longer there.
Now the screen looks empty and bare and all the clutter of your mind has been cleared.
You are ready now to get up and walk towards the screen because you need to get the screen back inside your head where it belongs,
Free of any clutter.
So walk down the aisle and enclose the screen back where it belongs.
Keep taking deep breaths and let the screen gently settle back into your mind.
That's good.
Your mind is now free of any and all clutter.
And with a clear mind,
You can now approach everyday activities and anything else that needs to be done far more confidently and happily.
Your concentration immediately begins to improve.
You find it easy to focus on whatever you need to focus on.
And when you have finished the task,
It is neatly filed and stored in the filing cabinet at the back of your mind.
Mind clutter is now a thing of the past.
And in the unlikely event you should experience it beginning to return or if you just need to clear your mind,
All you need to do in your own special time is to take yourself back to your cinema.
Remember to take those deep breaths and project the clutter onto the screen of your mind.
Turn it into a ball again and then exhale and watch as it starts to diminish and fade until once more it is just a mere speck.
And if you wish,
You can just blow it away.
And once again,
You are detached from all that mind clutter.
Then,
As before,
You will breathe the clear screen back into your mind.
Absorb it.
Feel it.
Experience it.
And enjoy the calmness and clarity that follows.
And these suggestions are embedded in your subconscious mind and will stay with you,
Growing stronger by the day,
Stronger by the hour and stronger by the minute.
In a moment,
I'm going to count from one to five and at the count of five you'll be wide,
Wide awake,
Feeling already wonderfully invigorated and ready to allow these suggestions to work for you.
One,
Take a deep breath in and let it out.
Two,
Starting to feel the clothes on your body,
The air on your skin.
Three,
Your eyelids are beginning to flicker gently.
Four,
You can hear other sounds around you and your eyes are just gently beginning to open.
And five,
Your eyes are wide open.
You can taste your mouth.
Take another deep breath in.
And your mind and body are now returning to normality.
