A Mindful Jewish Moment For Silence. This short meditation is a perfect way to start the day, take a quick break during work, or do a quick reset. This practice can also be used at the beginning of a longer silent sit. This practice begins with a very short teaching from Jewish sources and continues with brief instruction.

Rabbi Yitzchak said,

What is the meaning of the verse,

In silence speak righteousness?

What should one pursue in this world?

One should be silent.

When we find ourselves in a moment where our speech may be corrupt,

We can follow the instructions of the psalm and in silence speak righteousness.

We often think that in order to have righteous speech,

We need to make our voices heard above the din of the crowd.

It's also true that in our everyday experience,

Reserving speech is often the most righteous act we can perform.

Rest your eyes,

Relaxing body and breath.

Allow silence to speak righteousness.
