I invite you to join me in this beautiful practice of shifting into a deep flow state before taking action. Learning to access the right feeling state first is the key to creating positive experiences—and rewiring your nervous system for greater ease and joy. This is one of my favorite generative journeys into flow, and the first I’ve chosen to bring to Insight Timer. I hope you’ll return to this practice often, weaving this way of being into your life: tending to your inner state, and guiding yourself back into flow again and again. As you begin to feel lighter and more spacious, may you grow your capacity for experiencing more joy and ease.

It's not what you do,

But how you feel about it.

Even sitting here,

Like,

Noticing how you feel while you sit here,

Starting small.

Noticing how you feel emotionally.

How you feel physically.

How you feel cognitively or mentally.

Perhaps even how you feel spiritually.

And noticing the differences between each of those categories.

The contrasts.

The similarities.

You're happy.

You're happy.

And your neck is tight.

You're distracted.

And your belly is soft and relaxed.

You're connected.

And you're a little confused.

So many different qualities and states all swirling together.

All mixed up.

And creating the version of you that's alive right now in this moment.

I wonder if you can notice how wonderful it is to be all of those things.

Perhaps a little sigh as you drop in to relaxation.

Just as I am right now.

Giving yourself that space to yawn and to ease.

To wriggle into presence.

Filling your belly all the way with the next refreshing breath.

Quiet.

Expansive.

Shifting states.

Letting whatever you experience wash over you.

Like a cleansing waterfall.

Or a gentle wave in the ocean.

Or perhaps the breeze.

Cool and pleasant in the evening.

After a hot day.

After agitation.

And activity.

After doing.

And straightening.

Letting that coolness calm the system down.

Calm your mind.

Calm the emotions.

Calm the body.

You might feel it cascading down from your head.

Your face.

Down your neck and your shoulders.

Down your shoulders.

Down your arms as they lay gently in your lap.

How gently can the calm infuse your body?

Down your torso.

Down your torso.

Down your hips.

Down your legs.

Your ankles and your feet.

And as this gentleness,

This calmness streams down your body.

You can begin to notice.

What it leaves in its wake.

What does the wave take away?

What does the wind bring in?

How does the waterfall cleanse?

I wonder what that feels like for you.

Where does the space open up inside of you?

Do you notice space inside of you?

And if you do,

How can you begin to make that place even more spacious?

How can you begin to make that space even more spacious?

Beginning to expand it out until it fills all of you.

And beyond.

Expanding and expanding as wide as the ocean.

As wide as the ocean.

As vast as the sky.

Perhaps even all the way out into outer space.

If that's what feels good for you.

Or maybe today the expansion is only a few inches.

A few centimeters.

Just the way that feels good to you.

You can begin to turn your attention to your breath.

While you hold this state.

Breathing into the places that call to you.

Do you breathe all the way down to your toes?

Or do you breathe just to the top of your chest?

Beautiful breathing.

Perfectly right for this moment.

Practicing in this space.

To welcome and receive yourself.

Just as you are.

Neutral.

Nonjudgmental.

Receiving.

Letting yourself experience you.

Without any striving.

Without wanting to do anything different.

Be anything different.

Feel anything different.

Who am I when I just land here as I am?

What do I love about me right now?

What is the sweetness and charm?

That I never make time to notice?

How far have I come?

In the busyness of my day?

How far have I come?

Without even realizing it?

Breathe more and more deeply into the present you.

Let yourself expand even more.

And make room for yourself.

As you are right now.

I wonder what you see about yourself.

That you haven't seen before.

I wonder what you feel about yourself.

That you haven't felt before.

I wonder what your own deep intelligence tells you.

That you hear about yourself.

That you haven't heard before.

You are doing well.

You are winning the day.

You are winning this moment.

Just noticing how you are breathing is the win.

Slowing down for a moment is the win.

Knowing you have a choice is the win.

Making a better choice for yourself is the win.

Knowing you have a choice is the win.

Small little glimmers.

Small little wins.

Small little wins.

Changing the way your cells feel.

Moving from collapse to empowered.

From anxiety to trusting.

And flow.

If you can be one,

You can be the other.

Or you could be neither.

Finding something.

Creating something new.

That is none of what you were before.

I wonder what you have now.

I wonder if you can dare to imagine.

I wonder if you realize.

That the slower you go.

The more you can create for yourself.

I wonder how you feel.

Notice how you feel.

Feel your future through your body.

Not your mind.

Ask your body.

How do I want to feel in the future?

How do I want to feel in the future?

And let it show you.

Everything else will follow.

Want to feel love and freedom.

Want to feel like a bird soaring in the sky.

Want to feel like a human.

Walking in a forest.

Swimming in a lake.

Running through a field of flowers.

Crying your heart out.

Because you love something.

Because you love something.

All the beautiful states of being human.

Living as a human.

While you love and hate.

While you win and lose.

While you create and destroy.

I wonder if you can be a visionary for your own.

Creating something completely new for yourself.

Being open.

To more than what's available right now.

Seeing possibilities rather than limits.

Reinventing yourself again and again in the moment.

Simply through your breath.

Beautiful.

Simple.

Beautiful.

Effortless.

Being.

And now.

You can begin to gather all the parts of yourself.

That have gone on this journey.

On this little exploration.

Your physical self.

Your emotional self.

Your mind.

Your spirit.

And now.

Call them back to you.

Bring them back to the present.

Thanking them.

Thanking yourself.

For taking the time.

For choosing.

Self connection and presence.

Whenever you're ready.

Gently and slowly.

At the wave of consciousness and awareness.

Bring your awareness.

Bring you back into the room.

Wriggle your fingers and toes.

And slowly begin to open your eyes.

Letting the light in gently.

Thank you.
