Welcome to holding space for yourself.
Given the fast pace of everyday life,
It is easy to feel overwhelmed,
Unsettled,
And frankly depleted from the incessant barrage of activity.
When every waking moment is filled by work,
Routine responsibilities,
Parenting or caring for others,
The space to settle down,
Calm the mind,
And connect with your inner peace simply gets pushed into the margins.
This disconnect can easily throw you off center.
The secret to cultivating better self-care is through the regular practice of holding sacred space for yourself.
Holding space for yourself is the conscious act of being present,
Open,
And supportive of what your mind and body needs in each moment.
Think of a sacred space as a personal sanctuary where you make room to simply be.
The space you hold for yourself can be a physical place,
An intention,
Or a ritual that serves as an anchor to tether your awareness to the present moment.
A sacred space can be an area of your bedroom,
A yoga mat,
A spot in your garden,
Your energy or a mindful practice like photography where you can be still,
Feel your emotions,
Listen to your body,
Pray,
Meditate,
And connect with inner peace.
You can go to your sacred space to center yourself ahead of the day or to retreat there for grounding when things get a little tough.
It's a safe space that solely belongs to you.
When you emerge from your sacred space,
You should feel that the social and emotional blockages created by stress and anxiety have been either cleared or eased.
Holding space for yourself is the highest form of self-care.
When you water your own garden,
You're able to show up for yourself and others with more ease,
Awareness,
And soulful insight.
Every woman needs a sacred space.
Sacred spaces don't create themselves.
You have to be intentional about creating and honoring that space for yourself.
So now,
Think about how you want to cultivate your sacred space.
The space you hold for yourself should immerse you with feel-good vibes.
For me,
Behind the lens is a sacred space to be.
Set aside time in your day,
Set reminders if you have to,
Until the practice of holding space for yourself happens naturally.
Out of the 1,
440 minutes in a day,
Hold at least 10 of those minutes for yourself and connect with your sacred space.
Create without judgment.
Notice your thoughts.
Become aware of your body.
Breathe deeply.
Everything you experience in your sacred space is intentional,
Kind,
And supportive.
Remember,
When you are there,
Just be there for you.
Namaste.
