When cravings come up, as they will, stop. Use your breath to remain supportively available to yourself as the feelings rise and fall. As you slow down, you may be able to create some space between yourself and the craving. If so, use the space to choose your next step. If not, that's ok. Be gentle with yourself, and try again as many times as you need to.You have everything you need to move through cravings without getting stuck. This meditation is just a short reminder of your power to choose.

When you notice that you're having a sugar craving,

Just stop.

Stop and celebrate yourself for your level of awareness.

You recognized it.

So now that you see it,

Where is it?

Where can you feel the craving in your body?

Now that you've given yourself a moment to pause and just be with the craving,

With curiosity,

And without judgment,

You can use your power to decide on your next step.

You can breathe and really re-engage your promise to move through cravings rather than get stuck by them.

Just recognize where the craving is in your body.

Just watch it as it rises and falls.

And breathe deeply.

And perhaps as you breathe,

The craving will fall away.

If it remains sharp or you feel it all over,

That's still okay.

Just keep your hand on the places where you feel the craving.

And be compassionate with yourself.

Be supportively available to yourself,

Reminding yourself that you can get through this moment.

That cravings are just like all feelings,

The ones we like and the ones we don't like.

All feelings come and go.

And this craving will pass too.

You can get through this.

Just stay with your breath and stay with your choices.

Because you do have choices in this moment when cravings come up.

You can slow down,

See what's happening,

And choose what happens next.

Namaste.

Nice useful short meditation that acknowledges and helps you to sit with cravings without acting on them. Sugar is mentioned, but that sugar could be any craving. Just right. Thanks πŸ™

The idea that I can choose what happens in the next moment & that cravings, like other feelings, do pass…thank you Barbara for this insight. I know I will continue to come back to this reminder as I journey through this season of ending my relationship with nicotine. Bless you πŸ™πŸ½πŸ€—

Wow this was very helpful. I notice that I have more cravings during all this time at home where I have access to a lot of food during the day and anxiety about the world and my community.
