Welcome to the official podcast of the Grammy-nominated record label Metta Mindfulness Music,
Where we discuss how the ancient wisdom and neuroscience of our sound healing music can improve your health,
Well-being,
And transform your life into an inspired,
Positive experience.
I'm your host,
Pete Serdan,
And this week we will begin a new series discussing our album and corresponding meditation course,
Six Healing Sounds,
Based on the traditional East Asian medicine practices of Qigong.
In today's world,
Neuroscience research is finally catching up to what ancient Qigong practitioners have known for millennia,
That music and sound vibration can indeed physically benefit our brains and bodies.
In the research article,
Sound Vibration and the Brain,
New Connections and Paradigms by Mark Wolf,
It is hypothesized that vibrations of the human skull,
As produced by vocalizations,
Could be responsible for increasing the cleansing power of cerebrospinal fluid,
Improving brain function.
Now,
We will listen to an excerpt from the intro to our meditation course,
The Six Healing Sounds of Qigong,
Where president and executive producer of Metta Mindfulness Music,
Dr.
Richard Gould,
Introduces the history behind the six healing sounds,
The physical benefits it can have on our bodies and minds,
And how music and sound vibration ties into this ancient wisdom practice.
Hello,
This is Dr.
Richard Gould of Metta Mindfulness Music,
Welcoming you to this program based on the six healing sounds of traditional Chinese medicine.
The six healing sounds of Qigong movements and sounding can help improve joint flexibility,
Muscle strength,
Range of motion,
Balance control,
And enhance overall fitness.
With its meditative elements and focus on deep diaphragmatic breathing,
Qigong is an effective way to manage stress and anxiety.
In antiquity,
Taoist masters discovered that a healthy organ vibrates at a particular frequency.
According to the wisdom contained in the oldest text of Chinese medicine,
The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine,
The Neijing,
Dating from approximately 226 BC,
Each of the five elements corresponds to a specific tone or musical key.
These masters discovered six sounds with the correct frequencies to help keep the organs and energy pathways in optimal condition and balance in order to prevent disease and to alleviate illness.
To clarify,
There are five elements and six healing sounds.
The six healing sound corresponds to the energy pathway known as the Sanjiao or triple warmer.
This pathway is also part of the fire element.
The Qigong movements are not complex or difficult to do.
They can be done standing or seated or even lying down supine if required.
Once you are familiar with the movements and healing sounds,
A practice session can be completed in less than 10 minutes.
So take a deep breath and let's enjoy the journey together.
