I explain how emotions live in the body and influence our physical health through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. You’ll learn how anger, grief, worry, and fear affect specific organs, why alcohol often fuels rage in gentle people, and why acknowledging and releasing emotions is essential for balance. This session is especially helpful if you’ve experienced chronic pain, tension, or unexplained symptoms that may be linked to unresolved emotions.

Welcome,

I'm Dr.

Kim,

And in this session,

We'll explore the deep connection between our emotions and our physical health through the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine,

TCM for short.

Take a few seconds to calm yourself and open your mind,

Because I will be discussing concepts that are not discussed loudly in the Western world.

In TCM,

Emotions are not seen as separate from the body.

They live in our organs,

And when they are unacknowledged or suppressed,

They create imbalance and eventually illness.

The liver is connected with anger.

When anger is suppressed or constantly fueled,

It creates heat and stagnation in the liver.

This may show up as headaches,

High blood pressure,

Menstrual problems,

Or inflammatory conditions.

The lungs are deeply connected with grief.

When sadness is unprocessed,

The chest may feel heavy and the breath shallow.

Over time,

This can manifest as asthma,

Chronic coughs,

Or recurrent respiratory infections.

The spleen is connected with worry and overthinking.

When the mind churns endlessly,

The spleen is weakened,

Which may cause digestive problems like bloating,

Fatigue,

Diarrhea,

Or even muscle aches.

The kidneys are connected with fear.

Long-standing fear or insecurity can deplete kidney energy,

Leading to low back pain,

Ringing in the ears,

Reproductive issues,

Or urinary problems.

The body and mind are not separate.

They speak to each other constantly through this language of emotion.

Let's look at anger more closely.

Now anger itself is not bad.

It is a natural emotion that helps us set boundaries and act with courage and fire.

But when anger is repressed,

Or when you put yourself in situations where it is constantly fueled,

It creates heat in the body,

And this heat is stored in the liver.

This is one of the reasons why alcohol is so damaging.

Alcohol directly injures the liver.

Over time,

The liver becomes inflamed,

Congested,

And weak.

Because liver is the home of anger.

People who once seemed calm and kind may suddenly struggle with bursts of rage,

Aggression,

Or even violence when they drink.

It isn't that they have become different people.

It is that their liver,

Damaged by alcohol,

Can no longer regulate and transform anger in a healthy way.

This is why so many alcoholics who were gentle souls before end up consumed by anger.

The organ and the emotion are inseparable.

This is why it is so important to acknowledge what you feel.

Emotions are energy in motion,

Meant to move through you,

Not remain trapped inside.

When you give yourself permission to feel,

To process,

And to release,

You allow your organs to stay healthy and balanced.

Notice how when you cry,

Your breath softens and your lungs feel lighter.

When you express healthy anger,

Maybe by yelling into a pillow or stomping your feet,

Your chest opens and you regain clarity.

When you let go of your worry,

Your digestion feels calmer and your body can rest.

This is the work I do.

I help individuals heal chronic pain and symptoms by treating the body as a whole,

By going deep into the physical,

Emotional,

And chemical causes of your pain and symptoms.

By acknowledging and releasing trapped emotions,

Restoring organ harmony,

We open pathways for real healing.

I teach you how to use somatic movement,

TCM,

And meditation to heal yourself.

I want to ask you,

Have you ever noticed physical symptoms like pain,

Tightness,

Fatigue,

Or digestive upset arise during or after strong emotions?

Please let us know in your review.

Overall,

Your emotions are not flaws,

They are guides.

They are the messengers of your health,

And when you honor them,

You restore balance to your body,

Mind,

And spirit.

Take a deep breath.

As you exhale,

Feel yourself softening into that truth.

If the concepts in this track were new to you,

Please re-listen.

It may take some time to sink in.

I hope you enjoyed this talk.

Thank you so much for being here with me today.
