This exercise can be used when you’re feeling self-pressure, stuck in perfectionism, or when you keep pushing even when your body is screaming for a break. It will allow you to calm your mind so that you are better able to hear your inner wisdom. This exercise was designed by Abigail Morgan for her Mind-Body Magic program.

This exercise was created to help you become a mind whisperer.

Because this exercise could be considered a form of meditation,

Do not listen to it while driving,

Operating machinery,

Or doing any activity that requires you to be alert.

Please use good judgment and be safe when meditating or doing this exercise.

This is a good exercise to do when you're feeling self-pressure,

Stuck in perfectionism,

Or when you keep pushing even when your body is screaming for a break.

Any time you feel any of those sensations,

You can use this technique to quickly slow your mind and listen to your inner wisdom.

And if you'd like to dig deeper,

We can do so in a coaching session.

Let's begin.

Settle in in the way that is most comfortable for you to connect with your body.

If you don't have a preferred way to connect,

Sit comfortably and breathe normally.

Take a few breaths to just notice what's going on in your body and focus on the inhale and exhale.

Don't worry about breathing a certain way,

Just be comfortable.

If that isn't working,

Place your hand on top of your head or put all of your attention on your feet until you feel connected.

When you feel connected and in your body,

I'd like you to observe anything that might be going on in your mind.

Do you notice any thoughts that feel like pressure,

Perfectionism,

Or pushing?

For whatever you notice,

Tell yourself,

Of course I'm feeling this way,

Or of course I'm having these thoughts.

Essentially,

Cut yourself some slack,

At least through the rest of this exercise.

Imagine putting those thoughts into a balloon or thought bubble.

You can access them anytime,

But for right now,

I'm going to ask you to set them aside.

Now that your thoughts are safely set aside,

Ask your inner wisdom for guidance around whatever you want guidance for.

You could ask a question like,

What do I need to know about my next step?

Or what do I need to do right now?

Sit comfortably and breathe normally while you listen for your inner wisdom.

I'll give you a minute to do so.

You may have received more messages than you know what to do with,

Or you may not have received any messages at all.

You might also receive messages throughout the day.

Whatever you experienced is perfect.

As you move through the rest of your day,

Be open to new ways of being,

Acting,

And reacting.

This will help you move out of letting your mind run the show and operate more from your inner wisdom.

Practice this by connecting with your body,

Moving your thoughts back into their bubble,

Then asking your inner wisdom what you need to know.
