Welcome to this meditation on processing the energy of disappointment.
We all experience disappointment at some point in our lives and it can be a very difficult and challenging emotion to deal with.
Sometimes it helps to understand that that emotion is made of energy.
By taking the time to process and understand our feelings of disappointment,
We can gain greater insight into ourselves and learn from the experience,
Learn to move forward with resilience and strength.
To do that,
You actually have to process that negative energy which can become trapped in your body and your mind.
This meditation will guide you through a process of acknowledging and accepting your feelings of disappointment and also provide you with some tools to help you reframe and rewrite your disappointment with a more positive outcome.
This meditation is to be done lying down in a comfortable supported position.
A small pillow and blanket may be helpful for comfort.
A quiet safe space is perfect.
Once you're in position,
Allow your eyes to gently close.
Take a few deep breaths now.
Just concentrate on relaxing the muscles all over your body,
Starting from your head all the way down to your toes.
Relax your hands open,
Your arms laying down beside your body,
Your hands and palms facing up to the sky.
Focus on the sensation of the air entering and leaving your body.
Begin to gently lengthen your exhales just for a few moments,
Making them slightly longer than your inhales.
And as you exhale,
Imagine letting go of any tension or stress in your body.
As you continue to breathe in this pattern,
Allow yourself to sink deeper into relaxation.
If your mind wanders,
That's perfectly normal.
Just bring your attention back to your breath.
Don't worry about trying to control any thoughts.
Just allow them to come and go and keep returning to your breath.
Now just return to a normal breathing pattern for you.
Breathwork exercises like this can help you to induce relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety.
They can also help to improve focus and concentration and to increase feelings of calm and well-being.
As we begin our meditation,
I want you to imagine a compassionate and understanding presence with you at this moment.
You may not have anyone in mind or you may know someone right away.
This could be a loved one,
A spiritual figure,
A pet,
Anyone or any pet from the other side,
Or your higher self.
Just wait on this energy coming to you for a few moments.
Allow this presence to wrap you in love and complete understanding.
Picture this presence as a warm,
Golden,
Loving energy surrounding you.
You are actually wrapped completely in this warm,
Loving energy supporting you and holding you.
Just float here for a few moments.
When you are ready,
I want you to bring to mind the situation in which you experienced disappointment.
It's funny how disappointments,
Whether they are big or small,
Are just stored negative energy that may be trapped in our minds and body.
Notice any physical sensations or emotions that arise as you think about this situation.
Allow yourself to fully experience these feelings without judgment.
Just become completely immersed in the experience of that disappointment for a few moments.
It's just temporary.
Hang in there for this part of the process.
I want you to look at the experience for a moment like you are watching a movie.
You are watching the disappointment.
Not as yourself,
But as a detached observer for a few minutes.
And just watch it play out as it happened.
Take a moment now to acknowledge the disappointment you feel.
It is okay to feel this way.
It's a natural and normal human emotion.
Allow yourself to fully feel and express this disappointment,
Knowing that this is a temporary energy and you really do have the strength and resilience to overcome it and process it.
For right now,
I want you to deep breathe into it.
You are going to inhale for four counts,
Hold for three,
And exhale for eight.
Let's do that a few times and I'll count for you.
Deep breathe into it.
Inhale for four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Hold for three,
Two,
One.
And now slow exhale for eight,
Seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Deep breathe into it.
Inhale for three,
Two,
One.
Hold your breath for three,
Two,
One.
And now slow exhale for eight,
Seven,
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Return to normal breathing.
Now still as an observer,
Take a moment to reflect on the situation that caused your disappointment.
As you process that negative energy,
These questions will become easier for you to answer.
That means if you can't answer any of these questions in the meditation,
They will come through your unconscious at a later time.
So now I will ask you some of the questions regarding the disappointment.
Can you see it from a different perspective?
Is there any gratitude or silver lining at all that you can find in this situation?
Now this is hard,
But just for now,
Allow yourself to let go of any judgment or blame or anger.
But do you think you could find a way to move forward with a sense of acceptance and understanding that it was a life lesson of some sort?
You may not know what or why at the moment,
But I'm pretty sure it will come to you.
Rewriting disappointment in our imagination with a more positive outcome can involve reframing the situation and finding ways to see it in a more positive light.
You may never have heard of this or done this,
But really it can involve looking for the silver lining or finding gratitude in the situation,
Even if it may be difficult to see at first.
One way to rewrite disappointment in your mind with a more positive outcome is to imagine a different outcome for the situation.
For example,
Let's say you are really disappointed about not getting a job you wanted.
It seems counterintuitive,
But try this.
Imagine what it would have been like if you had actually gotten the job and how it might have impacted your life.
This can help you to reframe the disappointment as simply a missed opportunity rather than any failure on your part.
Missed opportunities have a completely different energy than failures.
Another way to rewrite disappointment is to focus on the things that you have control over.
This might involve setting new goals or taking steps to improve your chances of success in the future.
We often don't have any control over a lot of the variables in a disappointment,
But by taking control of your own actions,
Reactions,
And attitudes,
You can shift your focus away from disappointment and towards a more positive outcome.
Now,
It's like I'm reading your mind right now,
But it's important to remember that rewriting disappointment with a more positive outcome is not about denying or minimizing your feelings of disappointment.
It's about finding ways to move forward and build resilience in the face of disappointment.
By practicing this type of reframing after the disappointment,
You can develop a more positive and hopeful outlook and find ways to grow and learn from disappointments as they arise.
Take some time now to sit with your feelings of disappointment.
Again,
Allow yourself to fully experience and acknowledge these feelings without judging yourself.
Reflect on the situation that caused the disappointment.
What were your expectations or assumptions about the outcome?
Just as an observer,
Were these expectations realistic or not?
Sometimes disappointments happen for reasons of other people that we cannot control.
It may have nothing to do with our expectations.
Can you look for any silver lining or any positive aspects of the situation?
Is it too early or can you find any gratitude or growth opportunities in the disappointment itself?
I want you to imagine a different outcome for the situation.
How might things have turned out differently?
What would that have looked like?
In your mind,
Rewrite the disappointment experience in a completely more positive light with a much better result for you.
Let your imagination run as big or small as you would like.
Just be a writer of your memory right now and rewrite that experience in your memory.
For a few moments,
Just have a vivid movie in your mind of how that experience turned out completely differently.
Look at it now as a movie and just watch it now for a few moments.
Now focus on the things that you have control over.
What actions can you take to improve your chances of success or not being disappointed in a similar situation in the future?
Are there any goals that you can set for yourself to move forward?
You could practice self-care and engage in activities that bring you joy and support.
This can help you to build resilience and a more positive outlook.
Remember that rewriting disappointment to release that energy is a process and it may take some time.
Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to feel and express your emotions in a healthy way.
With practice,
You can learn to reframe disappointments and find ways to grow and learn from them.
And by doing that process,
You actually release that negative energy.
Choosing a single positive word to focus on as a goal can be a very powerful way to stay motivated and on track.
This word can serve as a guiding principle or a touchstone that helps you to stay grounded and focused and it can help you to keep your eye on the bigger picture even when faced with challenges or setbacks.
It can be any word.
What's important is that it has specific meaning for you in this process.
Here are some steps you can follow to decide on a single positive word for yourself as a goal.
First,
Reflect on what you want to achieve.
Take some time to think about your goals and aspirations for moving forward in this process and consider what qualities or characteristics you would like to cultivate in yourself in order to achieve these goals.
Now brainstorm some potential words.
In your mind,
Make a list of possible words that resonate with you and align with your goals and values.
These could be easy words like joy,
Compassion,
Resilience,
Courage,
Gratitude,
Or it can be any word,
Anything else that feels meaningful to you.
In your mind,
Start forming a bare list of possible words.
From your list of words,
Now choose the one word that feels the most powerful and meaningful to you.
This will be your single positive word for this processing experience.
Reflect now on your chosen word.
Take some time to think about what your chosen word means to you.
Put all of your feelings and energy into that word and infuse that word and how you can integrate it into your daily life.
Consider how you can use this one simple word as a guiding principle or touchstone to stay motivated and on track.
Remember your single positive word is meant to be a source of inspiration and guidance,
Not a source of stress or pressure.
Choose a word that feels meaningful and achievable and allow yourself to be flexible and adaptable as you work towards incorporating that word into your life.
The idea is you're going to carry that word with you out of this meditation and when you need it,
You're going to just think about that one word or you're going to write it on a sticky and put it on your fridge,
Anything at all.
You're going to incorporate that word as a meaningful word and something that's achievable.
Here are some positive goals you might consider setting for yourself after completing this meditation on dealing with disappointment.
These are things that I've had to learn in a long way of coming to terms with disappointment and they worked for me.
So I'm going to share them with you now.
Number one,
Practice self-compassion and self-acceptance.
Make an effort to be kind and understanding towards yourself when you experience disappointment.
Remember that it is a natural and normal part of life and that you do have the strength and resilience to overcome it.
Next,
Find the silver lining.
Sometimes it's hard,
But look for the positive aspects of a disappointing situation and try to find gratitude in the experience.
This can help you to reframe the disappointment and find a more positive outlook.
Next,
Set new goals.
Pivot is the new word that we all hear and it really means set new goals.
Consider what you can learn from the disappointment and use it as an opportunity to set new goals for yourself.
This can help you to move forward and build resilience in the face of setbacks.
Next,
Really engage in self-care.
Remember to take care of your own needs first and engage in activities that bring you joy and support.
This can help you to build resilience and a more positive outlook.
Next,
Seek support.
Don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.
Either talk to a trusted friend or loved one,
Journal,
Do something creative with the experience to help process it,
Or if you really need it,
Consider seeking the support of a therapist or counsellor.
It's really important to be patient with yourself and to allow yourself to process your feelings of disappointment at your own pace.
By setting positive goals and engaging in self-care practices,
You can build resilience and find a way to move forward with a new sense of hope and positivity.
Disappointment is a natural and normal human emotion,
Very heavy with low energy in the vibrational field and it arises when our expectations or desires are not met.
It's like a sticky energy.
It sticks to our mind and it sticks to our body.
It can be difficult and challenging to deal with.
It is a negative energy that needs to be processed and redirected.
When we experience disappointment,
It's important to take the time to acknowledge and accept our feelings.
This can involve sitting with the emotion,
Allowing ourselves to fully experience it,
And then finding healthy ways to express it.
It's only by fully acknowledging and accepting our disappointment that we can begin to understand the underlying thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to these feelings,
And then we can begin to process and move through them.
It's also really important to remember that disappointment is temporary.
Although time is an artificial construct,
But in the energetic world,
Disappointment is temporary and that we do have the strength and resilience to overcome it within us because we were born with everything we need already installed like a computer program.
By finding ways to reframe and rewrite our disappointment with a more positive outcome,
We can redirect our negative energy and focus on building resilience and hope for the future.
This may involve finding the silver lining in the situation or setting new goals,
The pivot,
Or engaging in self-care practices that help us feel grounded and supported.
Ultimately,
Processing and redirecting disappointment is about finding a way to move forward and grow from the experience.
By taking the time to acknowledge and accept our feelings,
And by finding ways to reframe and rewrite our disappointment with a more positive outcome,
We can build resilience and a more hopeful outlook,
And we can learn from it,
Learn to navigate the challenges and setbacks that life brings our way.
As we near the end of this meditation experience,
Take a moment now to bring awareness back to your body and your surroundings.
Release your comforting presence energy back into the universe with a deep breath and blow out on your exhale.
Give gratitude for their presence here today.
Notice any physical sensations or emotions that are present for you in this moment.
Now I'm going to help you count backwards from five to one to allow yourself to fully return to the present moment and to your physical body.
As you count five,
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to fully let go of any remaining tension or stress.
As you count four,
Bring your awareness to your feet and your legs.
Notice any sensations or emotions that are present in these areas.
As you count three,
Bring your awareness to your lower torso and your hips.
Notice any sensations or emotions that are present in these areas.
As you count two,
Bring your awareness to your upper torso and your arms.
Notice any sensations or emotions that are present in these areas.
As you count one,
Bring your awareness to your head and your face.
Notice any sensations or emotions that are present in these areas.
Now take a deep breath and exhale with a long sigh.
Allow yourself to fully return to the present moment and to your physical body.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and take a moment to ground yourself in your surroundings.
Take another deep breath and sigh on exhale and thank yourself for taking the time to meditate and return to the present moment.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Take a moment now to reflect on your journey.
Notice any shifts or insight that have arisen for you as you've worked through your feelings of disappointment.
Take a deep breath,
Long slow exhale and allow yourself to fully let go of any remaining tension or stress.
As you exhale,
Visualize releasing any remaining feelings of disappointment and replacing them with a sense of acceptance and understanding.
Allow yourself to feel a sense of gratitude for the disappointment experience because it was an opportunity to grow and learn from.
Know that you have the power to reframe and rewrite your disappointment with a more positive outcome and that you have the tools and resources to move forward with resilience and hope.
Always remember that you have the strength and resilience to navigate the challenges and setbacks that life brings your way and that you have the power to create a more positive and hopeful future for yourself.
Thank you for sharing this meditation experience with me.
May you be blessed with peace of mind.
Namaste.
