Even when we start our day with the best of intentions, it's so easy for our thoughts to run wild... so wild that we may not even notice we've begun using language that sounds more *negative-Nancy* rather than friendly.  In this meditation, we’re invited to take a step back and reconnect to the natural rhythm of our breath, our heartbeat, and our *native* language of compassion and understanding—the language that nurtures our mind and body. Whatever the biggest problems you’re tackling in your life right now, know that you’re not alone. Someone, somewhere, in another part of the world is going through a similar challenge. What would you say to this individual to ease their pain? This is the *friendly* inner dialogue we can begin to cultivate the more we meditate.

Wherever you're at and whatever you're feeling today,

Know that the door to inner peace is always unlocked and open to you.

And written on this door is a friendly invitation to give yourself the time and space you need to reconnect with that natural ease and comfort your mind and body deserves.

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position,

Either in a chair or on the floor.

And when you're ready,

Go ahead and close your eyes.

It's time now to redirect your attention downward and inward,

Returning to your body's natural rhythm and flow.

Dial into the sound of your heart beating and tune into your natural breathing.

Now let's see if we can find a little bit more depth in your breath.

As you sit up taller and straighter,

Feel your spine lengthening.

Notice the space expanding here.

And notice how your breath has deepened all on its own with this simple adjustment of your spine.

Let your arms and shoulders relax naturally here.

You are welcome to rest your hands on your thighs or in your lap.

Whatever feels light and comfortable for you.

Now take a moment to connect with the surface you're sitting on to help ground yourself deeper into the space.

Now direct your attention toward your breath.

Take a long,

Deep inhale through the nose.

And let it all out through the mouth.

And again,

Take in a long,

Deep inhale through the nose.

And let it all go through the mouth.

And one last time here,

For good measure,

Take a long,

Deep inhale through the nose.

And let everything go through the mouth.

Notice just how light your body has become just by letting everything go with your exhale.

Savor this moment and know that you can come back to this lightness anytime by giving yourself the gift of a full exhale.

Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm here.

Now take a moment to connect to your heart by bringing your right palm to rest over your heart and then your left palm to rest over your right.

As you breathe in and out,

Notice the rise and fall of your chest and the rise and fall of your hands along with your chest.

See if you can send some love and appreciation to this part of your body,

Sending that love and appreciation to your heart through the palms of your hand.

Whatever it is you're going through right now,

Know that your experience is normal.

It's natural.

It's 100% okay.

It's 100% safe.

It's common.

It's human.

And that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this experience or with where you're at in your life.

You are certainly not alone in experiencing what you are experiencing.

Every emotion,

Every experience we individually go through is an integral part of our collective human experience.

And it plays an important role in our current evolution and in our soul expansion.

Take this moment to honor your human experience with understanding,

With love,

With warmth and wonder and a curious fascination.

Whatever you might be struggling with in your life,

Imagine this.

If someone you know and love were going through what you're going through right now,

Imagine right now or something very similar.

If this were the case,

What words of compassion,

Kindness and support would you offer to this individual?

How would you show them that you understand what they're going through and that you are fully supportive of their decisions and of where they're at?

Now see if you can pass along the same words of support,

Of love and kindness and understanding to yourself in this moment.

If it feels a bit challenging at this time to find the right words to say,

Consider speaking out loud the following words.

I understand that what I'm experiencing is entirely normal and just temporary.

I choose to speak only words of kindness and compassion toward myself.

I deserve to be happy,

Healthy and free.

I choose to love myself no matter what.

You are welcome to linger in this loving space of understanding,

Compassion and self-empowerment just a few minutes longer if you wish.

Offer yourself any additional words of wisdom and encouragement that you need to hear right now in order to feel supported and loved.

When you're ready,

Come back to the natural flow of your breath.

Reconnect with the surface beneath you where you're sitting.

And in your own time when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

Welcome back.

You're invited to carry these words with you throughout the rest of your day and even into the night.

And if you find yourself ever needing a compassionate refresher,

Simply return to this meditation for inspiration.

Namaste.
