Welcome to the Time Out for Your Ego meditation,

A technique you can use throughout the day whenever fear,

Worry,

Or anxiety start to creep into your thought process where we compassionately ask the ego to take a back seat so that we may move forward with confidence,

Grace,

And compassion.

So let's begin.

Sit up straight,

Relax the face and jaw,

Close your eyes,

And start to inhale and exhale deeply,

Maybe three seconds in,

Five seconds out.

Start to breathe nice and deep,

Focusing on the breath.

Naturally thoughts will start to arise and that's okay.

Just release the thoughts,

Allow them to drift away,

And when a thought does arise that's based on fear or worry or anxiety,

Turn to your ego and say to your ego,

Thanks for trying to help,

But I can handle this.

Go take a time out and feel love and compassion for your ego as you make this statement.

Continuing to breathe deeply,

Inhaling for three,

Exhaling for five.

Concentrating on your breath,

Letting those thoughts pass you by like clouds in the sky.

When that next worrisome thought arises,

Be friendly with your ego.

Remember your ego is not the enemy.

It helps us survive in the material world,

But sometimes it gets a little too overzealous.

When that next thought arises,

Again ask the ego,

Hey thanks for trying to help.

Why don't you go have a seat?

I can take care of this.

Just allow yourself to continue breathing,

Making friends with your ego,

Your ego.

It's not something we need to fight,

It's just something we need to train.

It's not something we need to fight,

It's just something we need to train.

It's not something we need to fight,

It's just something we need to train.

Continue breathing,

Concentrating on the breath,

Allowing the ego to relax,

To feel loved,

Allowing the ego to understand its true role in your world,

Not as a dominator or a master,

But as a helper,

As an assistant.

And as we come to the end of our meditation,

Sit up nice and straight,

Smile,

Take a deep inhale and hold,

Exhaling and letting all the tension and worries of the day leave us.

Sat Naam.

Great perspective on the ego, I like that my ego is only here to assit. I don’t have to “kill” it. Just train it.
