Welcome to the Meditation for Radical Forgiveness.
Let's begin by sitting up with a nice straight spine,
Head level,
Taking a nice big deep inhale,
Filling the stomach,
The chest,
And the clavicle,
And exhaling it all out completely.
And as we breathe in and out,
Let's close our eyes and start to imagine if you can that situation that maybe you feel you created or maybe you feel that you were just thrown into it that you're upset about,
That you can't believe either you got yourself into or that you can't believe happened to you.
It's that situation that continues to pop up in your head when you're driving your car and there's nobody else there with you,
Or when you're laying in bed at night.
It's that situation that causes resentment in your mind or anger at yourself or others.
And take that situation and place it in your mind.
Allow it to solidify there.
And as you breathe in and out nice and deep,
Nice and thoroughly,
Nice and completely,
Prepare yourself to take radical responsibility for that situation,
But also to extend radical forgiveness to yourself and everyone and everything involved.
So as you're holding that image in your mind,
Begin to state,
I forgive myself for creating this situation.
I forgive you,
Meaning the situation or the person,
For having to respond to the situation I created.
I forgive my family and friends for responding to my actions.
With each breath I release us from this burden and recognize our basic goodness.
Just continue to breathe,
Releasing you and everyone around you from the burden of carrying this situation around in your mind and your heart and your body.
And allow your heart to open and recognize that everyone has a role to play in everything,
That we are each connected to each other,
And that nothing really happens to us in a vacuum without our own involvement,
Without our own energy,
Without our own acceptance of what is going on.
And as you continue to breathe,
Repeat again,
Holding that image in your mind,
That thought in your mind,
I forgive myself for creating this situation.
I forgive you for having to respond to the situation I created.
I forgive my family and friends for responding to my actions.
With each breath I release us from this burden and I recognize our basic goodness.
And hold the beauty of that wonderful thought of universal,
Basic goodness in your mind.
Let it surround the situation that you've identified.
And we'll end just by taking a couple more deep inhales and exhales.
Be well.
