Aloha everyone.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
Aloha.
I know everyone is from different parts of the planet.
So I would have to say.
Good evening to some people and.
Good morning to some people.
And in Hawaii afternoon.
So.
Good.
The whole cycle of the clock time.
And.
I think.
The.
Muncher to bring some.
Purification and.
Heal into our planet.
So beautiful mantra.
If everyone can.
Bring your spine.
On the knees.
Tip of the tongue.
Tip of the next fingers.
Close the eyes softly.
And if you can.
And if you can.
I will turn off my computer before we start.
That would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Take a deep inhalation.
Exhale slowly.
Bring the breath back to normal.
And you can.
And.
And.
And.
And you can open the eyelid.
And.
So I welcome you all to this.
Journey.
We are in.
Challenging times on the planet.
And.
We are in.
But simultaneously,
We can also connect to each other.
It's an opportunity for us to raise our compassion.
Empathy.
Love for each other.
And we can also connect to each other.
I was thinking.
Let's explore the.
Sutras because we live in.
On our planet,
Which is in a universe.
Which is.
Going through cycles.
So there are cycles of sunrise,
Sunsets.
Moonrise.
Moonsets.
Sunsets.
And.
Our ancestors.
Have been through tribulations,
Just like we are going through right now.
And.
They got through it.
So we're going through a.
Similars come back to us on this time of the planet.
So.
We can't.
Hide that there is.
Anxiety.
There's stress.
There is it's real.
So.
It's really.
So we have to see.
Okay.
How to try and.
Relax the mind,
Relax the body,
Like.
Previous ancestors and in the yoga culture.
They let.
Practice is to help us to cope with.
Tribulations.
So.
Over the next.
Few months.
We're going to go through the sutras.
Slowly.
And.
We're going to do different days,
Different techniques.
So on.
Mondays and Thursdays.
Explore the sutras.
Tuesdays and.
Saturday.
Explore yoga.
And then we'll do a couple of.
Classes as well.
So we can adjust the mind body organism.
So in the.
Yoga sutras.
And.
Many of you have studied the other sutras with me or I've studied it in the.
Yoga class or.
You're new to the yoga sutras.
It's a beautiful.
Philosophy presentation.
Because.
Yoga is.
Yoga is a beautiful.
Philosophy.
And.
Philosophy is actually a Greek word.
The Sanskrit word is.
The word is.
Darshan means to see.
Or how the reaches would see.
The world.
So.
Everyone on the planet is a philosopher.
Everyone of us open our eyes in the morning and.
We live our lifestyle.
By some philosophy,
Something gets us out of bed.
So.
There are about nine billion humans on the planet means there's about nine.
Billion philosophies out there.
Some of the philosophies are evolving and some of the philosophies.
The bulb in.
So the.
Question for life.
Who am I?
These makes us a philosopher.
What is my purpose?
What am I doing on this planet?
So a lot of questions within the human mind.
So.
This is a beautiful time to question.
And so.
If all of the mind evolved the consciousness.
So we're going to go to.
Yoga philosophy.
The yoga sutras and.
Explore it so we can contemplate it and see how these reaches these.
Humans just like us went through their tribulation and got purified.
So in the philosophy classes,
We'll do about.
Maybe I just about 10,
15 minutes of exploring the philosophy.
And then meditate on the philosophy on the sutras.
Because that's the way I was trained when I was studying the philosophy.
I would.
My teacher would have had us go through a couple,
Two,
Three,
Four mantras.
And then you explore it and then you meditate on it.
So it's not just.
Knowledge is realized knowledge.
So you experience the wisdom.
So the first sutra of the.
The first sutra.
In the book of the.
There are 196 mantras.
Or sutras.
Sutra means thread,
Which is weaving with wisdom.
And the first sutra is explaining that.
You already took birth.
So once you took birth.
It means you already went through one of the first major yoga.
Yoga means union.
So the first major yoga,
Which all of us went through is the union between the.
Spermatozoa and the egg.
If that union didn't take place,
We wouldn't be here today.
And then a second union,
All of us already went through a second major union.
And that's when the second major union takes place.
When we take birth.
So when we're in our mother's womb.
There we have a heartbeat.
And we have two beautiful lungs,
But the mother is breathing for us.
So as we take birth.
It's the first time the second major union takes place.
So the first major union takes place with the heartbeat and the lungs.
Because it's the first time we're breathing for ourself.
And the yoga.
And I over that a healing.
Explained the healing part of yoga.
Explained that to every.
Inhalation and exhalation.
If we have four heartbeats in that time.
Boom.
Boom.
That's resonates.
That's perfect.
Health is there.
But as we grow.
And we're going to be able to do that.
And that's the first major union.
So that's the second major yoga.
And so that's how the yoga sutra starts now.
We are going to explore this yoga journey to make us.
Allow us to go on a journey to make the third major yoga.
So the third major yoga is with the spiritual being,
Whom we are and with divinity.
God.
And the third major yoga is the yoga of the mind.
And the yoga is going to be explained.
You've already went through two of the major yogurt.
Now between Bert.
And when you master the term major yoga,
We have many minor.
Like right now,
My shirt is making yoga with my torso.
Your gluteus maximus is making yoga with your chair.
You're cushioning.
So many minor yoga stroke.
But then the third one,
And then the next.
Mantra,
The second mantra of the yoga sutras is this one of the sutra,
Which is very common in the yoga community.
A lot of teachers quoted yoga shit.
I'm breaking the road.
Yoga is the quietness or the calm down or the cessation of the.
Mental agitation.
So this is the first one.
So I'm going to make the first one,
And then we have the yoga of the mind.
So Pat,
You're the one who explains that when we can.
Free the mind and allow the mind to enter to enter tranquility.
We can get a glimpse.
That's the first half of his translation for what yoga means.
So calm.
The agitations,
No fear,
No anxiety,
No jealousy,
No grief.
Mantra two and mantra three go together.
So a lot of time people quote yoga is the calmness or the cessation of the mental,
The mind,
Yes the mind comes calm but that mental calmness is a springboard for you to understand what real,
What the Therag yoga is.
So the real complete of the philosophy of the philosophy is when your mind is calm mantra three then states then the seer will abide in its true nature.
So what does that really mean?
That means that when your mind is calm then you get a glimpse of your true higher self,
The Atma,
The spiritual being whom we are which is different than the physical body made up of earth,
Water,
Fire,
Air,
Ether.
The spiritual self is different from the mind and all the emotions that are going through the mind.
So as the mind gets calm,
The body gets calm,
Then we get a glimpse of who we truly are and different cultures refer to that experience slightly different.
Some cultures may say it is enlightenment,
Some people may use the phrase Samadhi,
Some people may use the phrase Bodhisattva,
Some people may use the phrase as connecting with the ultimate one.
Whatever culture we come from but that's when we can quiet the mind then we can actually get a glimpse of the higher self.
So in the sutras mantra two and mantra three they go together but somehow in the West we kind of separate it that yoga is the quietness of the mind.
When the mind gets quiet they always call it Sat Bhagun,
The mind experiences the mode of goodness but from the mode of goodness we can then get a glimpse of who we are.
So yoga really means recognizing then the seer,
The spiritual being actually recognize who they really are.
Like right now you're listening to me and you're seeing me with your eyes and the ears but who's really seen and who's really hearing?
Is it the brain that is hearing?
Is it the mind that is hearing or is it something else?
So the culture,
The philosophy of yoga teaches that it is something else called the Atma.
Different cultures refer to the spiritual force slightly different and in Sanskrit you come across two words that describe it Jiva and Atma.
It just means the anti-material aspect of us.
So right now my body is animated because I am within it,
The true self but if I was to leave this body right now the true me this body would collapse on the ground and someone would have to call 911 and say yogi Charu is dead or in India they would say yogi Charu has just transmigrated into another body right because the true spiritual self is eternal it's the body made up of the elements that eventually crumble.
So how to cope with the natural tendency of this universe?
So the true spiritual being is what animates this body and spreads consciousness over it.
So the journey of yoga,
The philosophy was to help us to connect to that higher self.
The number one cause right now we have a lot of fear and it's natural.
Every one of us is experiencing anxiety and fear it's natural because of the disease that's coming around the planet and but the primary the number one cause for a death is birth.
If we didn't took birth if we didn't reincarnated in this body as a baby child we wouldn't have to die.
So the yogis understood from the womb to the tomb there's a distance.
What is the goal of my life in this phase?
So the goal of my life is to question who am I and to master this third yoga and so we can only start to remove the tension in the mind when we start to resonate with the higher self with our philosophy higher philosophy.
So the philosophy that we have every one of us have within our consciousness that we're growing has is changing every day and I think it's because I said the philosophy is a Greek word it means the love of wisdom and I think it was Socrates who said every day I get up to kill my previous philosophy.
So every day is an opportunity for us to grow.
You have two kids three four years old you see them fighting in the street over a lollipop right our philosophy as kids little babies the only thing we do is eat where is food little bit that's the philosophy is to just eat and then as we age we go to school we meet friends our philosophy change and when we kick into the teenagers when the emotions quicken to our adolescent or philosophic oh wow we start to recognize this strong desire the passion the sex desire comes into our consciousness and then as we age you know you go to school you leave school or you enter college the first day the first year of college sometimes for most people their philosophy is it's time to party because I left my mom's and dad's house freedom and by the fourth year of college your philosophy change oh wow I got to get serious I got to start to make money I got to make a living so our philosophy changes we age and then sometimes throughout that process something happens in life that triggers us to question who my mind so someone might pass away or you see an accident or like now we see many of our fellow human brothers and sisters dying because of a virus so we question what is life all about so everyone becomes very philosophical whenever we go to a funeral everyone everyone becomes philosophical then and so now it's very easy for us to become tap into that philosophy so now our philosophy will change we start to purify our purify the way we think so who am I that's the journey that's the first three mantras Patanjali is explaining that you've done the first two major yoga and now on the journey towards your third yoga you're going to have a lot of emotions and issues that go through the mind now let's try and quiet let's try and make the mind peaceful and when we can make the mind peaceful we can then tap into the higher philosophy because our philosophy right now is our perception and it's deep rooted in us and we call it false ego then we have a pure ego everyone has a pure ego but then the pure ego is I am a divine spiritual loving being but when the ego is falsely perceptive then we think that I am a male body made up of earth water fire here ether and I'm Caribbean I am Belize and these but these are all temporary identifications and as soon as we identify with something other than our true spiritual self that's when tension is created in the mind so I'm if you go to the immigration right they give us a piece of paper to fill out how old are you the yogis understand okay this paper I need to fill out is referring to the philosophy of this body but I'm a spiritual being completely different than the physical body so I have to be practical when I fill out that form how old are you eternal what's your nationality spirit you know they will let me into the country but I have to fill it out according to the norm of the society for that's the philosophy of the body but this body is only moving because the spiritual being is within it so when we connect to the spiritual being that's when we can start to purify our previous philosophy and our philosophy is developed from our culture which we are born into you're born in like I'm from the Caribbean so I've a Caribbean psychic condition you're born in Asia in Africa and Europe wherever part of the planet you're born you have a certain family psychic conditioning you have a country conditioning you have a so we identify with those so much and it's so deep that if someone comes up to me and said you're gonna true you're not a male if I'm not talking into my higher philosophical son I probably get offended you're gonna turn you're not a yogi right so saying that I am a yogi is also a false perception the true identity is I am a divine loving being but it's so and that's why Patan says to calm the mind means you have to first remove all the previous philosophy that's pertaining to the body when you put that on the side then you can get peaceful and it's very hard to do but it's a good challenge because I think all humans like a nice challenge in life so a beautiful challenge is to come on the journey to try and figure out who we really are in a deep spiritual self so and the deep spiritual self the yogis recognize that we are a spiritual loving being and we use this word love but this is an English word and words really can't can't put everything the forces that were made up that's more so when a baby meets the mother that force that pulls them it's amazing force we call it love but it's powerful when two young people meet teenagers the first time that pull that force that pulls people the love brings them they when you see deep appreciation for the planet you respect the planet so much you don't want to destroy the planet the magnetic pull it up force call love so each and every one of us has this force within us we're all a loving being but then as we grow the love comes out and you take through the elements earth water fire ether through the mind and gets caught up and it comes out sometimes as lust as anger as envy as greed but the initial is pure love inside the mother really loves the child the mother tells the child don't do this out of love the child goes and does the same opposite then anger kicks in the mother but anger is a secondary to the love the love is there first so how to get back to this amazing loving space where we can understand oh wow as I evolved in this life my body is changing on the womb to the tomb my mind is changing but then me the spiritual being is an eternal being just what witnessing the the elements moving so to connect to that higher self is a beautiful thing and in times like this when everyone becomes very philosophical because it can happen to any one of us any one of us can contract the virus any one of us our immune system might not cope with it so we are very grateful for our fellow brothers and sisters who are nurses and doctors because they are very compassionate and they have to confront this quite frequently so we might not be in their position but we can also connect to them and pathetically from this loving space from the heart so the more we open the heart space from our higher self the more we can calm the mind and start to live from that place more and more change your philosophy everything so we'll end there for a philosophical part and put that into practice we're going to do some seated meditation on the philosophy if you're at home if you have the legs crossed a little ready maybe stretch the legs out wiggle the ankles wiggle the knees check them out if you're sitting in a chair that's absolutely fine just make sure your spine is tall that's the key to allowing the values that prana to get quiet to calm the body still the body still in mind before we can still the mind the yogas teach we must first still the physical body body in Sanskrit is kaya styrum is stillness kaya styrum stillness of the body bring your palms onto the knees and when you cross the legs make sure you're very comfortable arms on the knees touch the tip of the tongue step off the index fingers close the eyes softly and use the power of your legs push the legs down and lift the spine as tall as you can you want to keep the spine as tall as possible for the whole rest of the practice kaya styrum stillness of the body take the awareness to the right foot from the toes to the heel the right foot is still to the left foot left foot is solid to the entire right leg from the toes passing the calf the knee the tie to the right hip girdle the entire right leg is immovable to the entire left leg on the toes to the hip the entire left leg is stable take your awareness to the pelvic floor the glutes the lower back the front of the pelvis the entire pelvic floor is cemented to the entire back from the glutes to the shoulders the entire back is still take the awareness to the right hand fingertips to the wrists right hand is rigid left hand left hand is steady to the entire right arm from the fingertips passing the wrists the forearm the elbow the upper arm to the right shoulder blade the entire right arm is immovable to the entire left arm from the fingertips to the shoulder the entire left arm is solid take your awareness to the neck the neck is motionless so the head the head is completely still take your awareness to the whole body and imagine the whole body is like a statue immovable stable as the physical body moves into stillness more and more as time progresses let's work on still in the mind quiet in the mind our beautiful mind has the gift to project in the past so we tap into memory we know where we live we know our birthday we know where how to get back home how to get to work get to school we need memory the amazing beautiful mind also has that ability to project in the future to set goals the beautiful mind also has the ability to create to be in the present moment liberating the mind into the now initially the yogis attached the mind to the breath our amazing breath is a beautiful gift from God an unconditional expression of love to us from God the breath is taking place in the present moment witness the breath as it is the first time you are breathing with all irreverence see if you can identify the slight temperature change of the breath the incoming breath is slightly cooler the outgoing breath with the body's heat is slightly warmer move the focus of your mind to the breath in the rib cage try not to alter the movement of the rib cage just witness it as you inhale the rib cage naturally makes a small movement up and out as you exhale the rib cage naturally makes a small movement in and down by at the mind into the present moment with the breath in the rib cage now this breath is our constant companion in life like we have many companions or a family and friends but no one is constant with us like the breath and we came out of her mother's wounds as little babies up to this present moment we may ignore the breath but the breath never ignores us this time quite the mind a little bit deeper on the breath in the abdomen try not to alter the movement of the abdomen just witness it as we inhale and exhale the abdomen naturally makes a small movement out and in stand the present with the breath in the abdomen now the nostrils and deepen the awareness of the breath see if you can identify the four parts of your amazing breath there is an inhalation followed by a split second retention inside followed by an exhalation followed by a split second retention outside followed by an inhalation again keep witnessing the four parts of the breath now going to equalize the four parts of the breath move with me my pace inhale slowly on one on two on three on four all the bread in on one on two on three on four exhale slowly on one on two on three on four all the breath out on one on two on three on four inhale on one on two on three on four hold the breath in continue this ratio for the next couple minutes equalizing the backdrop to the life the four parts of the breath if counts of four is too strenuous for your lungs decrease it to counts of three if counts of four is too easy for your lungs increase it to counts of five no strain your pace you you you you you after you complete the next exhalation bring the breath back to normal breathing I want you to move your focus of the mind keep the mind in the present but on on the breath in there the heartbeat in the rib cage the heartbeat is a or is taking place continuously in the present moment move your awareness to the chest and see if you can find the pulsation from the heart it will start from the heart and spread through your whole body so you may pick the pulsation in the head or the toe or the fingers but recognize it's coming from the chest region and within the heart space the yoga philosophers explain it's where the true spiritual being resides it's spiritual loving being whom we are for the next minute just sit in the heart space with your heartbeat try and find it you what's keeping the heart beating is the presence of your spiritual self the Atma the Atma is using the brain and the auditory nerve and the outer inner middle ear to hear my voice and that being that's hearing me is a loving spiritual being recognize that we've been loved unconditionally by God God has given us so much gifts continuously providing us with the oxygen we're breathing now providing us with the brain the nervous system the organs to live in this incarnation on the planet so many gifts have been given to us unconditionally we can recognize the love this powerful force around us constantly the more we connect to that love in the heart then we can distribute that love outwards when we leave the heart space to the outside world through acts of compassion through acts of empathy gratitude just sit in the heart space for the next minute and just recognize all the different gifts you've been given out of unconditional love from God you today many of her fellow brothers and sisters may have a false identification that I must tour clerk tomorrow they get up there without that job without that identification who we are when all these false identification has pulled been pulled away from us we are a divine loving being want to connect to that higher self more and more so that we can influence that love into our mind into our body and share it with others organizing I am my highest philosophy I am a divine spiritual loving being this is the third major yoga is to raise our vibration when the mind gets quiet to abide in our true self and then recognizing God's love around us connecting with divinity yoga true you take a deep inhalation exhale slowly become aware of any external noises break the stillness in the fingers slowly move the fingers one by one with all the wrists and then bring the palms to the heart and lower the head towards your higher self the atma which is animating the art animate and the whole body towards paramount my Lord in the heart namaste lift the head open the eyes and thank you all so much for joining us today to just to connect to the higher self we're going to continue with the philosophy on Thursday so if you can join us that would be great to continue we'll go through the sutras book true book one and true book two slowly we're going to tomorrow is yoga nidra the art of relaxation because before the mind can enter quietness we need to relax the body totally so the philosophy our inner philosophy has to enter a place of relaxation as well and the yoga asanas is there in yoga culture so that we remove stagnation remove lockages in their veins the arches the capillaries so we'll do that on Wednesday and Saturday and if you are free please pop in it's nice to hold us face like I say even though we're distancing from each other we can still connect spiritually even closer to each other as our empathy grows for our doctors and nurses and just everyone helping everyone is raising their vibration because it's we're having a planet karma we have a we're on the planet at the same time so there's a karmic reaction so all of us going through the same purification we want to help those around us most of you I know our yoga teachers and meditation teachers I just shared a love with your students and family it's one big family the human family I love you all and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow same time to experience the art of relaxation adiyam that's it I know some if anyone has any questions some of my assistant was saying you can always write your questions and send the message to me and then I will answer them after until you know we're living in a cycle right so until 24 hours from now thank you you can put on back your speaker and just say hello ha thank you thank you nice to see so many nice faces all over LA one beautiful family thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you evolving together thank you thank you Charu so good Charu I just saw the link for the Belize that was beautiful is that really happening it looks so yeah all right have a lovely day we'll see you soon
