This is based on the classical Buddhist meditation for loving kindness. Kids will be encouraged to send out kindness and warmth to others by silently repeating a series of mantras. It's a wonderful way to drift off to sleep with a heart full of love and compassion.

Hello friends,

This is Lauren with yogi beans.

Together we're going to practice a meditation called loving kindness.

Before we get started I want you to make sure you're nice and cozy in your bed,

Get your pillows just right,

And be sure to have your favorite stuffed animal right by your side.

Take a moment now and really snuggle in.

To begin this meditation we're going to send ourselves the loving kind thought,

May I be happy,

May I be healthy.

You'll repeat this thought in your head three times or you can say it quietly out loud.

May I be happy,

May I be healthy.

May I be happy,

May I be healthy.

May I be happy,

May I be healthy.

Next I want you to think about a person who you love very much.

This can be your parents,

A brother,

A sister,

Grandparents,

A pet,

Any special being in your life.

We're going to send this person the same loving kind thought.

You'll repeat it three times in your head or quietly out loud.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

Now I'd like you to think about a person who you see often,

However you don't know them very well.

Some examples can be your bus driver,

A person you see at a store you go to,

Or maybe it's a person who works in your school.

I want you to think about this person and send them the same loving kind thought.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

In a moment we're going to send our loving kind thought to someone who sometimes annoys us.

This will be a person we may not like all the time.

Now before we send our thoughts,

I'd like you to try and think about a time when you and this person were happy together and see if you could feel a little softer.

I do know this one can be challenging,

Which is why we practice it.

Here we go.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

Now let's take our loving kind thought and send it out to the entire world.

That's right,

To everyone in the world.

May we all be happy,

May we all be healthy.

May we all be happy,

May we all be healthy.

May we all be happy,

May we all be healthy.

Now that we've sent our loving kind thoughts out to all the people in our life and all the people in the world,

Our hearts should feel full.

Close your sweet eyes and start to dream.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy.
