This meditation is to help you practice mindfulness.

Mindfulness is something that we can practice every single day.

You don't have to have a fancy meditation place or purchase expensive clothing to wear.

Practicing mindfulness is just our ability to be present in the moment.

So for this meditation,

I ask that you find a seat that's comfortable for your body.

In trying to find a place that's free of distractions,

But knowing that life exists around us and that distractions are a part of that life,

Become aware of any sounds around you.

Aware of the room.

Aware of your body within this room.

And if it feels safe to close your eyes,

Closing your eyes or softening your gaze to somewhere that you can gaze off into the distance.

Noticing our breath.

As we turn our attention to our breath,

The breath moves in and out without us even noticing all day long.

But as we shift our attention to this simple natural act of breathing,

We're practicing mindfulness.

Now let's take a few moments.

What can we notice about our breath?

Is it the temperature of the breath as it passes through our nostrils?

Warming in our lungs?

Moving back out through our nose?

Passing over our upper lip?

Or maybe we notice our lungs expand as we take a breath in.

And how our body releases tension as we breathe out.

This is practicing mindfulness.

Let us be present with our breath.

Switching into an observation seat where we watch the breath move in and move out.

As our lungs expand and contract.

As our body subtly moves with each breath.

And if your mind begins to wander like all of ours does,

Simply come back to the noticing of your breath.

This is practicing mindfulness.

Just taking a few minutes each day to practice being mindful.

Returning yourself back to the present moment will help you stay grounded and live your life with a little more ease.

Bring your awareness to the sounds of the room.

Bring your awareness to the room.

Bring your awareness to you meditating within the room.

Bring your palms together at your heart center.

Taking a moment of gratitude for your body,

Your breath,

And the gift of this meditation.

Blessed Be.
