An Upanishad Meditation

A few verses from the "Kena Upanishad" asking who is the investigator? Kena means, "by whom?" How is the mind, our instrument of knowing, supposed to turn around and know itself? To know the truth we have to come to grips with the medium of knowing and the identity of the knower. To turn knowing into realization, an awareness. 10 mins, short breathwork, gentle tongue drum background, no bell.

What is an Apanishad?

The word suggests sitting down near,

At the feet of an illumined teacher.

The Apanishads talk about the Self with a capital S,

To distinguish it from the individual personality.

The Self is seen to be one,

The same in everyone.

It is something experienced at the very center of one's being.

In all persons,

All creatures,

The Self is the innermost essence.

Our real Self is not different from the ultimate reality called the Divine.

Begin to breathe through your nose.

Pay attention to the breath at the tip of your nostrils,

And be aware of the amount of wind passing the tip of your upper lip on your inhalation and exhalation.

What is the speed of your breath?

What is the volume of your breath?

What is the temperature of your breath?

Is it cool on the inhalation and warm on the exhalation?

Pay attention to the breath at the tip of your nostrils.

Each time you inhale,

Count 1.

On the next inhalation,

Count 2.

All the way to the count of 8.

When you get to 8,

Return to 0 and start again.

Who moves the world?

That which makes you draw breath but cannot be Drawn by your breath that is the self indeed This self is not someone other than you By whom do all motions of life stir?
