This is an intro to meditation. Each step is a separate practice. Find a comfortable place and always remember to come back to your breath. Once the meditation begins, listen to the sound of your breath and the words in the practice. Stay with a rhythmic breath - even inhalations and exhalations. Namaste!

Introduction to the 12-Step Guided Meditations.

The guided meditations of this program are based upon the 12 steps as described in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous and as practiced in 12-step recovery groups all over the world.

These meditations are not intended to take the place of meetings,

Sponsors,

Or any existing 12-step practices,

But have been designed to further support your recovery while you're actively engaged in such programs.

Much of the work in any 12-step program is about self-examination and change from within,

But when looking inward it's all too easy to fall into confusion,

Self-deception,

And a host of distractions.

Guided meditation can be especially helpful here.

The scripts included in this program are each designed to help you stay focused on a particular area of concern related to the step you're currently working on from a deeply relaxed state.

In each guided meditation you're given a highly optimized opportunity to uncover truth and let go of any negativity that might otherwise hold you back.

At the same time,

This program can reinforce the positive,

Wholesome aspects of your character while strengthening your relationship to your higher power.

The deep support offered through these meditations can help you experience your own spirituality in a genuine,

Direct way.

Each of these guided meditations builds upon your work with the prior step and the meditations for those steps.

You'll want to use each meditation only after you've thoroughly explored the steps before and the learning they hold for you.

Take your time,

Work with each meditation carefully,

And make the most of it.

Set aside time where you'll have privacy and comfort and can focus only on that guided meditation.

Have pen and paper nearby so that after each meditation you can write about what you've discovered.

Work with each meditation at least several times over several days to ensure you've learned what you can at that point in time.

Later on,

After you've completed the series and your life has progressed,

Come back to revisit the series and learn more.

You'll find that the beginning several paragraphs of each meditation in this series is identical.

You'll want to find a comfortable place,

Free of any distractions,

And be able to sit quietly.

You want to sit up nice and straight,

Crown of the head reaches to the sky,

Rib cage lifts,

And your breathing is at its most natural state.

You want to stay focused on your breath throughout the meditation,

Always listening to the words of the meditation in the slow rhythm of your own breath.
