Khamsa is an ancient wisdom tradition passed from Egypt to Hebrews and the Jewish and near eastern cultures. We use this perspective to release judgement of ourselves, and forgive our past errors as learning experiences. Just as a child learns and grows, so do we. As we shed our shame and guilt for past misdemeanors, we are able to love ourselves a little more. Maybe a lot more. I found this practice very powerful, I hope you will benefit from it. Let's find a comfortable place for our body.

Having a fidget.

Somewhere we can be still for a little while.

The lower half of our body,

Solid,

Stable base.

The top half of our body expanding to allow room for the breath.

Our shoulders soft away from our ears,

Neck long.

Parking our body.

And when we find that place,

Taking a few deeper breaths.

Bringing our attention to the internal world.

During our daily life,

Most of our attention is out there in the external world.

But the internal world is where it's all happening,

Where it all begins.

Feeling the breath and the body.

Breathing our breath,

Our body.

Our mind.

Our feelings.

Our energy and our motivation.

All the different aspects of our being.

Hello,

How are you?

And actually listening for a reply.

And if we get feedback,

Accepting it without judgment.

Let's use the breath to bring us into that slower meditative state.

So,

Allowing the breath to flow in and out of our heart center.

Easy,

Comfortable breath.

Imagining the breath flowing in and out of the heart center any way you wish.

Without strain or struggle of any kind in the breath.

Remembering that if our mind wanders,

It's okay,

They do that.

Just bring it back.

If we notice we start to criticize ourselves,

If we wish we can release that.

Just bring it back again.

And then,

From our heart center,

As we exhale,

Let's allow our attention to flow down our body into the earth beneath us.

Surrounding us,

Feeling the presence of the earth beneath us.

If we become full of worry,

Full of mental energy,

It can be extremely beneficial to feel the solidity and the slowness of the earth.

The security of the earth.

Let's see if we can feel that now.

Sending our roots down,

However that appears for you.

And when we're ready to inhale,

We're going to come from the earth through our being and up out the top of our head to connect with the highest vibration we can conceive of.

Into the cosmos,

Beyond even this physical experience,

And out as far as we can imagine.

Great mystery,

God,

Whatever you wish to call it.

The light,

The love,

The truth.

Feeling whatever that feels like for you.

And then with our focus,

With our breath,

Let's connect the earth and heaven.

So we exhale down through our body into the earth.

And we inhale up from the earth into infinity.

Easy,

Comfortable breath.

Up and down.

And we can allow it to lengthen and slow the breath a little,

But let's be gentle.

Refocusing if we need to.

Our focus connecting heaven and earth has created energy.

You can visualize that as light or as energetic power,

Prana.

Flowing into us,

Into our heart,

From the earth,

From the cosmos.

Draw it into your center as you inhale.

And as you exhale,

Allow it to flow through you,

To you and through you.

There is more energy than we can ever need.

Just need to open ourselves and invite it in.

You may be able to feel that physically or use your imagination.

A few more breaths,

Connecting heaven and earth.

Easily,

Without strain or struggle,

Just striving,

Just allowing our mind to do the work.

Bring this focus to bear.

Let's rest.

Feel our being once more.

Hopefully you can sense a difference from when you began.

More centered,

More peaceful already.

So there are some hand positions,

Mudra,

Hand positions for this meditation practice.

And you're free to take the hand positions as I suggest,

Or just to imagine them,

Whatever works for you.

So the first hand position is to raise the hand and face the palm away from you.

As we take this hand position,

I invite you to consider that I reclaim my light.

I reclaim my divinity.

I welcome that I am a light.

I accept that I am a facet of God.

A creator being,

Just as Father Mother God has created me.

I embrace that.

I embrace I am light.

My light.

Feeling how that feels.

My yoga experience wants me to do the second mudra with the other hand.

And the second mudra is our hand open in front of us,

With the palm facing us this time,

The top of the hand facing away from us.

And this time we consider the parts of us that we might label as not great.

Our shadow,

Our darkness,

Where we've been hurt in the past.

Our worries,

Our fears,

Our resentments,

Our sadness,

Our anger.

All the bits of us we might not enjoy experiencing.

There are many,

I expect.

Let's see if we can shine a light,

Observe those bits of us.

Because usually we don't even look,

And if we do we judge.

In this moment I invite you firstly to notice,

Honestly,

My darkness,

Your darkness,

Our darkness.

I'm going to reclaim my darkness,

My shadow,

Because it's taught me a lot.

And even if it's only that I don't enjoy doing those things and I choose not that.

As a child makes mistakes,

So do adults.

Maybe we've experienced anger and decide that's not for me now.

Maybe we've betrayed another or ourselves and decide it didn't feel good.

I might not do that again.

It's helped us choose.

And so I accept my darkness.

Feel that.

So powerful.

Bring those parts of you back in to the fold.

Welcome those parts of you back in.

And so we become whole.

I embrace my darkness.

Resting there,

Feeling how that feels.

The last hand position is to open our palms to the sky.

Receiving mode.

Even that has energy.

So many of us aren't that great at receiving,

Giving yet.

We've done a lot of that.

What about receiving?

And that can be linked to our self-worth.

So in this moment I invite you to consider your worthiness.

To reconsider your worthiness.

Can you love yourself enough that you are worthy to receive?

I invite you to reclaim your worthiness.

To accept your worth.

To embrace yourself just as you are.

Please take a few restful breaths.

As a small act of service,

Whatever we ask for ourselves,

We also ask for each and every human being on earth.

May this energy go down into the earth,

To be made available to all the people ready to receive it.

The highest outcome for all concerned.

And so,

Let's slowly begin our transition back to the external world.

I hope you will look at it slightly differently.

From the perspective of one who feels slightly more happy in their own skin.

And so,

Let's take an energising breath or two.

And start to move our body.

Wiggling the fingers and the toes.

And any stretch you feel you might enjoy.

Thank you for practicing with me.
