The Freshness | Rumi Poem
by Wood
This poem speaks of renewal and transformation. Through the images of rain and snow, it suggests forces that purify and prepare the heart for a deeper unveiling. At its center lies the mystery of an essence beyond birth and death, ever-present yet hidden. It reflects how true beauty enters quietly, dissolving the familiar sense of self and leaving only a trace of wonder, silence, and the sacred presence that cannot be named. Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, popularly known as "Rumi", is a 13th-century Sufi poet. Today, he is recognised as one of the greatest poets who ever lived, due in part to how his words seem to speak to the Divine. Translation by Coleman Barks.
