Hello and welcome to your somatic meditation on patience.
Patience can be something that is extremely difficult for us humans.
Our brains love to know,
They love to control,
They love to understand.
When we find ourselves at times in our lives where we don't know,
Where we don't understand,
Or where we feel like we don't have control,
It can be easy to feel anxious and to feel unsettled.
As we make our way towards the full moon at the time that this is being recorded,
This can be a time where we might start to experience more of this anxiety,
More of this unease.
Perhaps we've set intentions with the new moon and we're waiting to see when and if those intentions might come to fruition.
The full moon represents this point of completion,
It's this peak in the cycle,
And so as we're waiting and we're making our way there,
It can be a beautiful time to cultivate more patience.
And so that's exactly what we'll do here today.
What I'll invite you to do is to gradually make your way to a comfortable position you would like to meditate in.
Maybe that's seated or lying down on your back,
Or perhaps you're more of a mover and you might like to take this meditation on a walk.
Once you've made your way to this comfortable position,
I invite you to start to bring your awareness to the physical support underneath you,
Noticing the parts of the body that are making contact with that physical support,
And if it feels okay,
What I'll invite you to do here is to maybe see if you can soften into these points of contact,
Even if it's just one or two percent here to start.
And as you start to soften into this physical support underneath you,
Perhaps you can allow it to be a representation of the unseen support that is within you and all around you.
And maybe you would like to take a moment here to invite in any layers of unseen support that you would like to be here with you today,
Any ancestors,
Angels,
Or guides.
And perhaps once you've started to sense their presence,
You can allow yourself to soften another one or two percent here.
And as you feel ready,
I'll invite you to slowly start to bring your awareness to the breath,
Watching the breath flow in and flow out.
And maybe you've noticed by just starting to bring your awareness to your breath that it's already started to slow down.
And whether it has or it hasn't,
Perhaps you can invite the breath to slow down even more here by extending the inhales and extending the exhales,
Really inviting the breath and the body and the mind to slow down.
And as you begin to maybe slow down here and continue to maybe soften into that physical support,
Into this unseen support,
I'll invite you to reflect on a memory.
A time in your life where you truly felt patient.
A time in your life where you weren't rushing,
You weren't pushing,
You weren't wondering when and if things will happen.
Maybe in this memory there was something that you were desiring and maybe it kind of just fell into your lap.
Maybe there was nothing you needed to do to force it or to make it happen and yet it still happened.
So taking a moment to reflect on this one memory or maybe you have a few memories starting to come through.
And as you reflect on these memories,
I invite you to notice any physical sensations in the body.
And if you're having a hard time coming up with a memory of a time where you felt patient,
Perhaps I can invite in an image for you.
Maybe seeing a little seed in your mind's eye and then slowly starting to see that seed begin to sprout.
And then seeing that sprout begin to grow and eventually turning into a small bush.
And then eventually this smaller bush turns into an even bigger bush.
And then from the bush grows a stem.
And on the stem there grows a rosebud.
And eventually this rosebud opens up into its full expression into a beautiful red rose.
Maybe you might notice how this little seed was never rushing,
Was never wondering if and when its rose would bloom.
It simply grew and waited and trusted in the timing and the unfolding of the process.
And so as you continue to reflect on this image or maybe connect with any memories,
Noticing what patients might feel like in the body.
Where do you notice patients in the body?
Do you notice it all over or is it just in one spot?
Does patients have a certain texture,
A certain shape?
I'm just taking a couple of nice,
Slow,
Sweet,
Full,
Deep breaths here in and out of the nose into whatever sensations you might be noticing.
Allowing these sensations of patients to integrate into the body and into the nervous system.
Continuing to watch the breath flow in and flow out.
Noticing if the texture has changed at all,
If the shapes or maybe the colors have changed at all.
And maybe noticing if there's anywhere in the body you have begun to maybe soften and loosen a little bit.
Is there anywhere in the body where you feel like you can have even just one or two percent more patience?
And as we slowly start to close out our somatic meditation today,
The invitation is to see if there's a message that patients might like to share with you today.
If the sensations of patients could share a message with you today,
What might they say?
Noticing where that sensation might land in the body,
If at all.
And then slowly starting to bring your awareness back to that physical support underneath you.
And if you can,
Maybe seeing if you can soften into that physical support another one or two percent here.
And then slowly starting to invite movement back into the body.
Wiggling the toes,
The fingertips.
Maybe taking a big stretch if that feels good.
Taking your time and fluttering the eyes open,
If they were closed.
And as you open the eyes,
Maybe just taking some time to look around your space and noticing anything you might see,
Anything you might hear in the background.
And since we were working specifically with memories today,
Maybe as you look around you could do so through the eyes of the age that you are right now.
I encourage you to spend a few minutes journaling about this practice and maybe what it brought up for you today.
I encourage you to be gentle and patient with yourself as you continue to do this work.
I hope that you got value from today's practice and I look forward to connecting with you soon.
