Hello and welcome to this Enneagram meditation.
The Enneagram is an ancient tool for self-discovery and it highlights personality types and even pathways to essence or true self.
There are nine types in the Enneagram and while you may have a type,
It's important to remember that you are not a type.
In other words,
We are much more than just our personality type.
In fact,
The invitation with the Enneagram is to learn to embody all nine types and to embody wholeness.
So this practice is an attempt to do so and to embody wholeness.
We'll start with the body center of the Enneagram which includes types 8,
9,
And 1.
We'll move to the heart center of types 2,
3,
And 4 and finish with the head center which includes types 5,
6,
And 7.
Let's go ahead and begin with the sound of the bell.
The gift of type 8 is aliveness,
Empowerment,
Bringing your awareness to the body.
Notice what it's like to be alive in this moment.
The gift of type 9 is groundedness,
Connectedness,
And notice here what it's like to land in presence and to be open to the movement of being.
The gift of type 1 is integrity and now notice what it's like to have a balanced posture but more importantly a balanced posture of flexible alignment.
Having grounded ourselves in our bodies,
Sensing empowerment,
Groundedness,
Alignment,
We may now notice that our heart center may gradually and subtly soften.
The gift of type 2 in the heart center is loving-kindness.
I invite you now to bring your attention to the front of your heart,
The side of the heart that faces outwards and be open to any names or faces that come to heart.
The gift of type 3 is meaning and purpose.
So starting with the front side of the heart,
Shift your awareness just a little more into the heart and here into the center of your chest or this deep heart.
I like to imagine a sun in a solar system,
The home of effortless flow.
The gift of type 4 is true identity and beauty.
Bring your attention,
Your awareness to the heart but deepen it as far as it can go and imagine you can feel into the back of your heart,
This cave of the heart and it's here we can feel into our depth,
Intimacy,
And mystery.
Being grounded in our bodies,
Softened and opened our heart,
We may notice now that the mind quiets down.
The gift of type 5 is inner stillness and quiet.
In this head center,
As the mind quiets down,
The gift of type 6 is to see things clearly and it begins to awake.
Notice what it's like to recognize thoughts,
Recognize items to be added or crossed off a to-do list and notice how you bring your attention back into the breath.
The gift of type 6 is to see things clearly and to awaken.
And finally,
The gift of type 7 is inner freedom.
As the mind quiets down and then begins to awaken,
Type 7 invites the mind to having moved from the body to the head center.
May we glimpse what it's like and may peace and peace and peace be everywhere.
