In this gentle letting go meditation, you will use your breath to help you let go of some of the things that you have been carrying around. We so often go through so much of our days and our lives without ever thinking of putting down or letting go of some of our worries and stresses. This is a perfect meditation to begin to look at what we have been holding onto and starting the journey of letting go.

Thank you so much for joining me for this meditation.

You can get comfortable finding a position that will work for you for the next little while and when you are ready,

You can close your eyes.

Our goal in meditation isn't to push our feelings down,

Whether physical or emotional,

But rather to just observe what we are feeling and allow it to move through us.

Exploring our feelings is beautiful,

Sometimes painful,

But human and natural.

It's when we hold onto these feelings and let them take root in our bodies and allow them to drag down our spirit that we get into trouble.

In the last few months,

The last year,

There have been challenges.

We have gone through a time of change,

Of loss,

Of stress and fear.

We have all been feeling this and yet we know that for some of you,

The challenges being faced have been large,

The void's great and the fear very close to home.

And yet,

Here you are.

You have sat with your sorrows,

Begun to make friends with the changes that have come and while it might not feel comfortable yet,

You have started some very difficult conversations and have proved your resiliency.

You have challenged yourself to move through the fire without being consumed.

There are things we have held onto in our bodies,

Our hearts,

Our minds and our souls,

Some that we are aware of and others that have snuck in without our knowing.

These things we have picked up along the way begin to weigh us down,

Stealing our energy and our joy.

But we don't have to continue carrying all this weight around with us.

We can choose to put it down,

To let go of anything that is no longer serving us.

This is what we are going to do in this meditation.

It is time to put this weight down so we can go back into the world refreshed,

Feeling lighter,

Soothed and more open to joy.

There can just be so much to let go of,

Things that we are intimately aware of needing to be released and things that have been hiding a little further under the surface or just outside of our line of vision.

There is that collective breath that we have been holding for the last few months and it has been affecting us in many big and small ways,

Making gentle ripples and giant waves through our lives.

There is also the physical breath that you have been holding,

Those deep sighs of relief that we have to begin to tease from our bodies.

Let's take a deep breath in,

Really feeling how the breath is sticking in our bodies and a long slow exhale.

On our inhales,

We are paying attention to our chest,

Pulling the breath deeper and deeper into our bellies.

This is an expansion,

An amplification.

The inhale is us giving permission to take up more space,

To fill every ounce of our being,

To become bigger and greater,

To breathe into our wholeness,

To move the breath past the parts of us that feel tight and sad and anxious,

To move the breath past the parts of us that are waiting for our attention.

Deep breath in,

Filling your lungs,

Moving your diaphragm,

Your belly,

And then a long and slow exhale.

The exhale is a return.

It is a coming home to self,

A coming back to center,

A gentle knowing,

A deep connection to your higher self.

Let's really feel these breaths.

Take a deep breath in,

Expanding,

Filling,

Stretching,

Then a long and slow exhale,

Feeling everything come back to center,

Back into alignment,

Feel yourself arriving in yourself,

Coming home.

Deep breath in,

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in.

And let this breath out with a sigh.

When we become conscious of our breath,

The gentle pull in and out,

The rhythm and connection to what is now and has always been,

We become less intent on holding on to it quite so possessively.

Feel your exhale.

Really lean into feeling how this is a letting go.

Feel how the exhale whispers softly to us that there will always be an inhale.

Such is the rhythm of life.

For everything that we let go of,

There is beauty in return.

Deep breath in.

And let go with the exhale.

Deep breath in.

Letting go with the exhale.

Find the rhythm of these breaths for you,

Intimately acquainting yourself with the pattern and feeling your own breath,

Both ancient and entirely your own.

So often when we are going through times of struggle,

We forget to truly listen to ourselves.

We forget the power of the voice inside of us that will,

If we listen quietly,

Tell us of our wholeness,

Of our worthiness,

Of the strength that we have as we move through life.

We keep our minds,

Our hearts,

And our souls so busy to avoid the stillness.

We forget to let go,

To let ourselves fall,

To feel the winds of change on our face.

We are afraid that we might not be able to catch ourselves or there might not be anyone there to catch us.

But the voice,

Our inner knowing,

Is whispering,

Calling,

Shouting that we have been caught all along.

Sometimes we keep ourselves lost in the forest when,

By sitting with ourselves,

By letting go,

We might begin to find the way out.

Just because we have come so far and weathered so much doesn't mean that we aren't still tender,

That we don't carry some worry or sorrow with us.

As you have been sitting here with yourself,

Some difficult things might have come up for you.

Your busy mind might have tried to tell you of things that you should be worrying about.

We can begin to lean into the gentle letting go that our minds and spirits are craving,

Are calling for.

Continue to take these deep and calming breaths.

Deep breath in,

Expanding,

Deep breath out,

Letting go.

We can begin to turn our loving eyes inward,

To all of our light and dark corners,

Into our heart space,

Into our minds and souls and spirits,

And begin to let go of the things that are no longer serving us here.

Using our breath to focus us,

We begin to explore the weight of expectation,

Really allowing ourselves to connect with the feeling that this word expectation brings up in our hearts,

Our heads,

And our bodies.

Taking a deep breath in,

Allowing this breath to expand us,

To soothe the tender parts of us,

And then a long and slow exhale now.

The exhale is a powerful letting go,

An uprooting as these expectations that we have carried around with us,

Find that they are no longer at home within us.

Let's take a deep breath in,

And the exhale is a letting go.

I'll pause now for you to take a few more of these breaths on your own.

We have suffered losses.

We have suffered losses and seen changes that have challenged us,

That have brought us down to the very roots of ourselves.

Even when we have nothing that we think we have to let go of,

There is something there,

Something that we hold onto just a little bit tighter,

Something that we witness out of the corner of our eyes,

Something that hides in the darker corners of ourselves.

Taking a breath in to acknowledge,

The exhale is a beautiful letting go,

Full of love,

Connection,

And gratitude for the time that was had together.

Only allow yourself to connect to your breath in these moments,

Witnessing and acknowledging the inhale,

And then letting your exhale be a powerful release.

Our breath is such an important tool in helping us to let go.

Allow yourself to sink into the rhythm of your own breath,

Feeling the power and connection that is created here.

Feeling your body,

Feeling the deep connection between your body,

Your breath,

And your spirit as you are here,

As you are in your space,

In your body,

And safe.

We greet all of the things that we have been carrying with us such a very long way with kindness,

With compassion,

And love.

We send gratitude to the lessons that we have learned and breathe into the deep recognition on a soul level that it is time to let some of these things go.

The breath in is the acknowledgement,

The breath out is the release.

Deep breath in,

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in,

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in,

Deep breath out.

And now in this expanse,

We can begin to stretch ourselves to explore our new edges,

The new corners that have been created,

The cracks in our careful exterior that have begun to let the light in,

Breathing into the space in our hearts,

The new connection to self,

The new lightness that we have found.

It is in this moment of softness,

Of release,

That we can begin to fill ourselves back up.

Take a moment to become aware of the areas in your body that have released something during this meditation,

The areas where you feel a lightness,

An easing of tension or stress.

These are the areas within you that have just been waiting to be filled with love and gratitude.

Bring your attention to your heart space now,

Feeling the steady beat of your heart.

As we take a breath in,

We breathe into our hearts.

The exhale moves this loving kindness through your body.

We breathe in to acknowledge the journey that we are on in this life.

The exhale is again a release and a moving of the gratitude and kindness and compassion for ourselves through our body.

We breathe into our hearts,

Imagining each breath bringing love and gratitude.

This love fills your heart until your heart is overflowing.

Each breath in brings more love and gratitude into your heart and the breath out expands this feeling of love within your body.

It spreads through every single cell from the tips of your fingers to the very bottoms of your feet.

It spreads through your entire body until every single cell has been touched by love and gratitude.

Every tender spot within you has been soothed and tended to.

The empty spaces that were created within you as you let go of what you have been carrying around with you have been filled.

Take a moment now to let that deep knowing fill up all of these spaces within us.

Each breath in fills you with new and exciting energy.

You have released what is no longer serving you.

You are feeling lighter and more connected to yourself in this moment.

You can stay in this meditative state for as long as you like and whenever you are ready you can begin to bring movement back into your body.

Begin to feel the weight of your body,

Your fingers and your toes,

Your arms and legs,

Feeling the weight of your neck and your head and whenever you are ready you can open your eyes.

Thank you so much for joining me for this letting go meditation.
